Oops my mate says 2009 was when we swapped onto them... anyway all credit to them for still churning them out

Maybe not correct in terms of the Bridgestone S21 over the S20, as the S21 has a longer tyre life with the same levels of grip.
Therefore making it better value?
Is that not why people like Michelin, Bridgestone and Dunlop run their tyres in Moto GP and Moto 2, so they develop better tyres for them to sell to road users?
Tyres the only thing connecting you to the road, so even small improvements are worth it?
Just my opinion

Don't be swayed by the latest rubber, often they are just sales gimmicks to get us on to the latest tyres when the there's nothing wrong with the outgoing one's.

I could't agree more...the current crop of rubber is the best its ever been imo...

Doubt we will ever have a leap like X Ply to Radial again... granted tbe changes in each successive "NEW this years model" should be better than the last..but how much better ?... look at Michelin, they sell stacks of Pilot Power 2CTS.. christ knows how may I went through since 2004/5 on 3 different machines. All mates run them. If they done a 200 section id have them on my HP4, flawless in every way.

The argument is..how good is the improvememt...

Anyone play golf... ! I do or used to play a lot and its exactly the same scenario. I hit a long ball and use a Cobra Driver I bought easily 10 years ago. I can still knock it 20 or 30 yds past my mates using the latest driver from Callaway.. Ping or whatever..do I need a new driver lol... yea bugger it lol

Interesting you mention golf Stu. I still use my mizunho t-Zoids I have had for 20? years and still hit it as well as the next guy with the latest stuff. I think I'll get them regripped this winter though, I look like a right cheapskate at the golf club with my carry bag and old irons lol.

One thing on tyres for certain, the technical development of tyres and their capabilities go further than most of our abilities (apologies to the superbike gods amongst us). I think the 'tyre conundrum' is a distraction from learning to ride the bike better, more so on track.

Agreed.. theres good rubber all round. We dont need anymore "new models" for a few years Id say.. T Zoids lol.. theres a blast from the past.. my cobra Irons Ive had forever too... i regripped them myself a couple of years ago.. My bro in law gave me a set of Titleist Blades and they were a lovely club but my old Cobras work every bit as good... Riding a bike is like playing golf... its the 6 inches between the ears that counts..

It's all personal with tyres. Most of the rubber from the last 5 years is better than any of us is able to exploit on the road anyway. I didn't like the M7RR and think the S21 feels vague at the front. Hated the pilot road 4s. Sportsmart 2 is my favourite all round so far but the Racetec was the grippiest in the dry for me. Will try the Corsa 3 next.

100% on that... funnily I thought the M7RRs were superb grip v wear... maybe 4k from rear.

Loved the 2ct's one of my favorite tyres I've ever tried but was always getting punctures which is not ideal when commuting
Since changing to m7' s ( must be on my 6th set by now)
I've never had one
Incredible

Fully agree re tyres are an immensely personal choice.
It's all about feel really as the limits are beyond what can be readily exploited on public roads.

For me, I think the S21's have a sublime front end (feels rock solid to me at high lean). Though they do get sketchy once the shoulders are near the markers and the flat ish rear profile does make for a slightly slower turn in.

For rain/cold weather (Autumn/Winter), I find it very worthwhile switching to a dedicated sport touring tyre such as the Metzeller Roadtech 01
