Suspension is a big topic as I'm sure you will know.

So I have my bike booked in for checkup and setup for road and track use with;

who I believe is an excellent specialist in the topic.
I booked it in because I believe I'm too light for the standard suspension settings and think there can be improvements made, even if new fork springs are required it'll be worth it.
Having ridden other sports bikes set up by Teut, there are noticeable improvements
I will let you know how it goes.

Has anyone else had their S1000RR done by TW suspsenion?
 
No, never heard of them

I'm assuming your's is a Gen 3? How heavy are you?

he did a bit of work on my gen 3 couple of years ago,dont be put off by his "home" workshop,he knows his stuff,and was very good with advice etc.i'd still be using him but my latest bike runs maxton and i've a good relationship with them so they look after this bike.
 
he's the suspension guy for thundersport also.
 
Yes its a gen 3 and I weigh 80kg

I had the springs changed on my Gen 3 and it really improved the feel from the front end - MCT carried out the work and he also changed the air gap. I'm 74kg and I think he fitted 10's but that was after telling him it would be used quite a bit on track - I'll check when I get home.
 
MCT carried out the following:

10nm springs
7.5w fork oil
100mm air gap
modified preload spacer (no idea what he did)

That was for a 74kg rider (normal clothes) using the bike on road and track.(fast group)
 
I highly recommend getting the suspension setup up by TW suspension tech, the difference made was drastically improved, I immediately felt the responsiveness, feedback & good feel from the front and rear riding over bumps, holes and cornering as well as accelerating. Bike no longer bounces excessively nor seesaws and doesn't sag down on acceleration. Gives good confidence in corners too.
I had done a night shift and have been for 3 weeks so I took in what I could.
So briefly Teut started with a brew :encouragement: coffee woke me up! He wrote some details down, then measured rear for adjusting Pre-load (turned out no adjustment was needed).
Then took measurements for the front. wound the pre-load up a few turns whilst taking multiple measurements after forks being compressed and de-pressed! Then once the pre-load was set for the front which happened so quickly he just said right the rear rebound needs to be set to +1, Rear Compression +7 and Front damping +1.
He also suggested lowering the forks so they are flush with the top yoke so I did that on Friday.

200+ miles done at the weekend and the bike is so much better by a long way.
I've yet to make another rear shock mounting position change to have the top mounting fastening on the oval shaped "sliding blocks" to the upper position, this will also lower the bike. I've yet to achieve this but I am confident in doing so on the Abba skylift.

Overall happy to spend ?50 on all the advice, tips and adjustments he made. Top bloke and he knows his stuff giving me a few secrets to consider in the future ;-).
 
To change the shock mounting position I've just got to set the shock length to 348mm with the swingarm length at 600mm standard. :)


To do this requires a LOT OF WORK FFS! Then recalibration of ride height.

Has anyone got a quicker way to remove/install rear shock with electronic DDC without having to remove the fuel tank and unbolt the rear sub-frame as workshop manuals specify to do so?
 
Undo the bottom of the subframe and loosen the top. Use a strap to hold it up.
Failing that, drop the swing arm...

*I've never done it but believe these are the two options.

Are you just trying to flip the eccentric?
