That's decent for your first time - it's not an easy track to learn and I found it's a place that takes more time to get to grips with than others. After years of running a track only bike, I just remove the mirrors and fit slicks to my Gen 3 now - managed a 1m 49s on my last day last year but my "usual" pace is 50/51's. Was hoping to move forward with that this year......................

I got the BMW blanking kit for the Gen 4 so that you can plug the indicators and rear lights without faults showing. Was pretty cheap actually and worth it.

I don?t do many UK days so it?s plenty for me just running the gen 4 like that. I only went 2 seconds faster on V02 slicks after replacing the K3s when I had the gen 4 out in Alcarr?s last year

That?s good to know Gobert, might give the S22 a miss in that case.

That?s a decent time at Oulton on a road bike mate.
I managed 1:56 yesterday on my first time there in inters.
Hopefully next time I?ll get in fast group with a bit less traffic.

Yep, the S22s are definitely a step down over the Supercorsas and the K3s. Don't get me wrong, a good tyre - but if you are doing track miles and are quick, I'd probably skip the S22s. Mainly road miles though, and it's a good tyre with good life.

And personally, if you wanted a bit more durability, I'd take Rosso Corsas over S22s for the track - but then I like the feel of Pirellis

I noticed when I was in the dealers last week that all of the sport models had S21s and the M Sports had K3s

+1 .....I do one "road bike only" day each year and want something I can use on the road after and the S22's fit the bill especially as the pace on those days is a LOT slower than a "normal" day. I'd want something a more track based road tyre if I was going to do "normal" track days on a regular basis and didn't have spare wheels / slicks to swap. It all depends on an individuals pace of course but I wouldn't want to ride in the fast group on S22's.

I've booked the Snetterton road bike day on the 23rd and intend to see how the Rosso Corsa 2's do. Kinda hate the idea of not using warmers now, but with everyone (bar a lucky few) outside the garages, I am hoping they get some sun between sessions.

Are the Road days significantly slower? I assumed so, and went in fast because of it. Will be the first track time since October nevertheless.

Yeah but probably best leaving it out of this thread

Yes, please start a new thread for it to keep this one on topic. I think noxx had something like that happen on an autobahn?

Don?t think I?ll be starting any new threads for my bike on here but thanks for that

I did one two years ago at Oulton and didn't get passed all day on my old Tuono V4 1100, last year I was passed by one guy and I'm normally mid pack fast on a "normal" day...................the "fast" group was more like a slowish inters both times. The best part of the S22's was that they were good to go in one lap from cold.

Road Bike Only Trackdays

Are the Road days significantly slower?

They are typically slower and much more relaxed. From experience instructing on a few road bike only days the average rider generally has more self-preservation and there are less wannabe racers in attendance.

Can you still use warmers on a road bike only day?

Not at the MSV days I've done before however I think they now allow it. Yes they do..............

Road Bike Only Track Days: The rules for these events are simple - only road going bikes will be allowed to take part. This means 'road legal bikes' with working lights and all of the other road paraphernalia. We strongly encourage all participants to ride to and from the circuit. Daytime MOT spec bikes and slick tyres are unfortunately not suitable for this type of event. Tyre warmers 'are' now permitted.

Oh they do allow it, dang...might have to get the Genny I've been putting off.
You never want road tyres to be slick hot...my Diamonds would be set to 60.
