I use Wurth Dry Chain Lube and apply a little and often, normally after rides when the chain is warm as it supposed to penetrate better.

Anyway, got hardly any miles on the bike, and ok it's not seen a load of use in the last few months, but I always get comments that it looks dry or needs oiling.
I spray the lube up close and down the length of the chain, so right in to the O-rings or X-rings (whatever they are) and on the sides of the links. I've also tried loading a rag up with the stuff and running the chain through my hand (manually turning rear wheel). Just did the rag job again with a little engine oil and it looks great now but guess you shouldn't really mix normal oil and the dry lube stuff on the chain.

Anyone else had this problem if you just use the Wurth stuff?

Would you recommend a different lube altogether?

In my experience the wurth dry lube is the best stuff to use. Yes it looks like the chain is dry but it isn't, the lube coats the chain providing the lubrication needed. Doing it with a hot or warm chain is best. After cleaning I spray direct on to the chain whilst spinning the rear wheel on a paddock stand for maybe 6-7 seconds, then repeat spraying vice versa (inside out or outside in). So what you've been doing is fine by spraying it on, using the rag is not ideal because the spray is designed to penetrate the couplings.

When the bike has been to a BMW workshop they say the chain looks dry but I always ask them to leave it alone rather than cover it in their muck that flings everywhere.

Like you I clean and lube the chain after every ride (for me every ride is a longish one) and with 9000 miles on the same chain and sprockets I have had no issues.

No need to use any other oil.

edit - and no rust either.

I've heard nothing but good things about the wurth chain lube. I've just started using Activ8 chain cleaner and chain lube - they claim it can extend the life of the chain up to 5x - I cannot comment on it yet tho as I've not done the milage

The wurth stuff is good in the summer and have used it in the past. In the winter though you need a bit more. Tbf the oem chain is crap. I changed my chain and sprockets today (8k miles) as it looked aweful

Muc-Off

I use Muc-Off Chain Degreaser and Dry Chain Lube and would recommend both.

Well that's answers my question I don't have any chain lube and was wondering what you guys recommend Wurth it is :smile-new:

Premier members will be able to buy wurth at trade prices through a forum trade account hopefully later this coming week.

Just a quick shout for Wurth dry chain lube, I switched to this having used all kinds of stuff over the years based on recommendations on here. I've been using it on the new chain I put on my bike a few weeks ago and I'm pleased to say its stayed where's supposed to with none of it finding its way onto the rear wheel, swingarm, undertray etc. Very impressed.

Just been to Wurth Bradford and stocked up through our forum account :). Free coffee too!!!

Agreed. Wurth in the summer and a thicker greese in winter. My chain last 8k miles also. Had 1 salty wet ride with only wurth dry on chain and it pretty well destroyed it.
