I've heard through posts on this site about Software/Firmware updates on the 15 RR. Booked 2nd service at the weekend and enquired about these updates. The dealer service dept was unaware about any updates at all. can any one shed any light on this matter?

Same here when I booked my second service, asked exactly the same question about any s/w revision and got the same response as you.

Just had mine serviced at Balderstone BMW, I also checked with them, deffo no software revisions or updates

Unless it's ABS Pro (a ???'s upgrade) I've not seen anything reported. Link to the posts that have made the suggestion if it helps.

I had an issue with my lean angle display while I was at Almeria last September, we spoke about that Marzy.

When I got back to the UK, I took the bike straight to my dealer who replaced the accelerometer module.

They also checked the firmware release on my bike, it was new in February '15 so quite an early model.

The firmware was updated, I have the version numbers at home, it definitely made a difference to ABS, DDC and throttle response.

I will find the firmware release numbers when I get back and send them to you Marzy, still here in Spain at the moment, we are home at Easter.

I was at the BMW/FE Exclusive event at Monteblanco in Oct 14, the same weekend BMW were setting up to do the promo on the new RR. My quickshifter wasn't smooth, and when the BMW engineers heard about this, they came round for a look (which was rather nice of them). They updated (or just reinstalled) my firmware and had a good look round the electronics, and things were a lot better after that - just wondering if you've got the idea from someone else having similar?

Software

My S1000RRR was one of the first to be delivered in the UK last year and the software (DDC, Quickshifter, DTC etc) was updated during the first service. There was a positive and noticeable difference afterwards particularly in quickshifter functionality. You will find that when the bike is plugged into the BMW diagnostic system the software and firmware versions are checked and automatically updated if required. If you have a Race Enabled ECU the HP Racing Data Release for the HP Race Power Kit is also routinely updated as it is continuously developed by the HP Race Department.

The ABS Pro system has already been available on some of BMW?s top end motorcycles, such as, the R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure and has been standard equipment on the K 1600 GT and GTL. Today BMW announced that they will make the system available for the S 1000 RR sport bike as a retro fit for models from 2012-2014, as they did for the highly exclusive HP4 sport bike back in 2014.
The system is designed to provide more safety by further preventing brake lock-up while the bike is in a corner. This enables the rider to do what is generally perceived by
motorcyclists as a ?no, no?, to brake whilst leaning the bike in a turn.

The system will be made available for newer S 1000 RR models in the future and will include the ?Race? riding mode. This mode is, of course, better suited to racing conditions than the ?Rain? or ?Sport? modes.

Thankyou everyone. My quickshifter is rather poor at low revs with large throttle openings compared to my Translogic on the Gixxer 1000, but i'll live with it. The Downblipper is on another planet however......

Quickshifter

My quickshifter became smoother once the bike had been updated and it seems to work even better when the gearshift pattern is reversed and when shifting at higher revs.

Mines spot on up and down the box apart from upshifts from 2nd to 3rd at low revs where it doesn't always like to change, it's been like this from new but tbh it's not really an issue. My GSA also has a quickshifter & autoblipper, it works fine at all revs and in all gears up and down the box although like the S1000 it works most smoothly at higher revs.

Sounds like an issue i have.

Mine is the same too between 2nd and 3rd. Even the demo bike I took out for a spin early last year was the same. Higher up the rev range it's ok but anything around 4k rpm and it's like the gear lever hits a brick wall, it won't go in. If I roll off the throttle slightly I've found it goes in ok.

Yes, or use the clutch, mine actually quick shifts at low revs between 2nd & 3rd perfectly when the engines cold, don't if something changes/expands whatever once it warms up...?
