Question: If I were to show a scanned in reciept as in my google drive to a retailer is this a valid proof of purchase.

Ive been scanning in and saving PDFs this way for ages and had a bit of disagreement tonight..

I think it is valid... anyone ?

I'm fairly sure it has to be the original, you could tamper with a scanned image quite easily. Was it cash?

It was a card transaction Soof... Ive all my docs... insurances..receipts etc saved in either as a PDF or as an image.foppdec16.jpgfrasers2dec16.jpg

For example here is a couple. They are cristal clear... I know that if you provide a date and a value the company should check their records and that should tie in, so in the respect of these images surely they will be good enough also.

Ive never had a faxed
/photocopied receipt rejected... surely a retailer would honour these ?

I agree, they should. Maybe the store person is related to your icecream fan in Oban lol?

Even HMRC accepts scanned receipts : https://www.freeagent.com/guides/se...ccept-scanned-receipts-for-business-expenses/

It appears to be a policy on a per disgruntled/misinformed employee basis, not a company one .. so just choose the happy person, not the grumpy old git to discuss the return/exchange :)
