Decided on the Eazi-Grip Evo tank grips and pads, I?ll fit them at some point over the weekend. Still waiting on the GPS lap trigger.

I had a front paddock stand that I had purchased for my 1299s when I had that lifts the front of the bike from under the radial calipers and can confirm that it works perfectly well with the Beemer, saves me having to purchase another one.

The wife and I finally managed to get out for a decent ride yesterday, it?s been a while. The wife hasn?t been on the back of a bike since early last season so it?s been a long time coming, her first experience of the Gen 4.

Gaga and Grandad popped through and we headed out, nothing major, 129 miles of cracking roads, busy as usual but plenty bits where we could have some fun.

The bike is phenomenal, the more time I spend on it the more I love it. Nothing to complain about so far anyway.

Bit of pampering Sunday for the bike. Degreased the chain then lubricated as usual. I removed the sprocket cover to give the front sprocket area a degrease as well, it wasn?t that bad.

GPS lap trigger and 2D data logger finally arrived. I?ll fit that over the next few days, just need to book a track day now.

That?s the BMW M gps lap trigger and 2D data logger fitted now. Very easy to fit. I had to remove the USB charge socket as the power supply connector is needed for this set up.

The GPS mouse is secured to the side under the pillion seat when not in use, and you can clearly see where it goes when in use. I?ve got some more Velcro coming to secure the diagnostic connector to the bottom of the storage compartment so that doesn?t move around, The mouse uses alfa lok which is ridiculously strong, that?s what?s on the side when it?s stowed away. I will use normal hook and loop Velcro for the diagnostic connector. I also use Velcro cable ties which are fantastic.

Two pics above you can see the USB holder which has the USB connector and memory stick inside.

Not long until I can book a track day, only thing left to get which the wife says I have to is GB racing covers, which have been purchased along with the Alpha Racing quick release fuel cap.

M GPS Laptrigger / Datalogger

Make sure that you give the GPS a couple of minutes to locate a satellite before heading out on track prior to each session. It just allows it to identify the track you are at and match the preloaded start/finish line coordinates so the data and lap times are accurate.

For the strongest signal, yes...might get away with it underneath sometimes. The R1M at least has a mounting point for it...BMW could have made a specific cowl.

That?s the diagnostic connector secured to the bottom of the luggage compartment via Velcro so it won?t move around when on the move, looking much neater now, neat enough that I?m happy with it.

Few more bits arrived. GB racing covers which I?ll fit over the weekend if I can be arsed and the Alpha Racing quick release fuel cap.

Once I?ve fitted the GB racing covers I?ll be looking to book a track day, nothing much else to get, Evotech crash bungs and a slip on exhaust at some point. I might get the dash cover/protector as well.

Spec so far

Evotech lever protectors and bar ends
Evotech tail tidy
Evotech paddock stand bobbins
RRG radiator and oil cooler guard
Alpha Racing fuel cap
Eazi-Grip Evo tank grips and pad
WRS tall screen
BMW M GPS lap trigger and 2D data logger.

I think that?s it, a bit more than what I had originally planned but subtle non tacky mods, tasteful mods I reckon.

GB racing covers now fitted. The fuel cap and the covers have been my first second hand purchase but the deal was too good to pass up on. The cover set alone new is ?270 + delivery and the wife had said I?m not taking the bike on track until I have a set fitted.

The set consists of clutch/gearbox cover, alternator cover, pulse/timing cover and water pump cover.

Only thing left that I really want before a track day is the Evotech crash bungs. Then it?ll be track time. Since the bike has been run in the weather here has been crap, I?ve barely been out so hopefully that will soon change.

I?ve been using the bike most of this week for commuting to work which has gave me a chance to play with the wheelie control settings, it seems clutch ups are a no go in anything other than completely switched off. You can get some front wheel up over crests on the roads when giving it the beans but nothing major.

New place for parking at work, I was in the other car park but they were giving me the fear with their parking, can?t be trusted.
