Evening gents

so as I mentioned in my newbie intro, I'm going to be soon ending an 11 year string of R1s and switching to racing a S1000rr.
i know R1s inside out and I know all the little tricks and mods to make them right such as the crappy shock linkage on the 14b and the rubbish swing arm bushes on the 4C8 etc.

so I was wondering what I should bee looking for with the S1000rr, I will be doing all the usual stuff upgrading o ohlins front and back, remap, full exhaust system and that good stuff but what little tricks of the trade do we have with these?
 
Mainly its about standard upgrades. K-Tech DDS Rear shock is the best of breed, so matching it with a set of K- tech cartridges would make most sense.
The eccentric bolt at the top of the shock will need flipping over.
There are different swing arm linkage options from places like Alpha Racing to tune the bike to your needs.

Depending on year,later bikes normally tend to run forks flat or one ring showing and rear shock eccentric standard-in fact k-tech shock has to be run in normal position.
Obviously,it's all personal choice,of course.
It's the silly things really,like making sure the clutch switch is working after fitting replacement levers.No clutch switch-no quickshifter!.
Likewise,rearsets linkage needs to be perfect.
Air filters don't really make much difference,although some people have had good results with Sprint filters
 
Hmm... mine is on the 3rd ring and the rear shock only fits with the eccentric flipped... (so mine's probably wholly wrong)

Race Preparation

If your racing at National level make sure you download and thoroughly read the MCRCB Yearbook and completely understand the regulations within it for your class. From experience scrutineering is immensely strict when compared to Club level racing especially with regards to permitted modifications and you do not want to be found wanting.
