Excuse me being an *****, but do you literally mean 500 miles on a dyno? Varying revs etc?
Surely it's easier/cheaper just to ride it?!

True, but not if you don't ride on the road anymore.IMO,running-in on the dyno is actually better than on the road because the load is more constant and there is less risk of the engine labouring etc.

Dyno

+1.

It makes complete sense for a new race or track bike that will never be used on the road.

Sport and M Sport do not have the same riding modes. You need Performance Pack to bring Sport up to M Sport level.

I was at a dealership yesterday and sat down the the guy there who specialises in RRs.
He said the riding modes between the Sport and M Sport are identical. The performance pack only includes the battery and forged wheels, and the difference between Sport and M Sport is: paintwork, wheels, seat, battery, chassis kit and slide control.

I asked about the performance pack. His view is that if you really want the wheels then fine, but it?s not an essential purchase to go for, given it doesn?t change the electronics.

I also asked about the new colour scheme. He reckons it will sit alongside the existing red, so anyone who?s ordered the sport will retain the red.

They had an M Sport in there, and the wheels are bloody lovely.

Im still toying with swapping my Sport choice for an M Sport. It?ll put me at the back of the bloody queue though.

I have also had this confirmed. Although was calling it ?drift? control....

In summary and what?s been confirmed with my dealer as I changed my order from M Sport to Sport with Performance Package aside from obvious colour differences are;

M Seat
Carbon Wheels
Slide Control

Ie the Sport with PP will have

Normal Seat
Forged Wheels
NO Slide Control

Hope that clears confusion and obvs I think there are differing opinions on this but I will go with my dealer!

Does the sport have a lightweight battery?

With Performance Package YES!

It was one of the reasons I changed down. I think at my level Forged Wheels is fine, plus I prefer the softer seat as I will be road and track, I could do with saving a bit of cash and finally I fell for the Hockenheim Silver!

Agreed; but only if you pay for it as an optional extra as far as I?m aware.

No it?s included. If you go to configurator on the Sport model and add Performance Package it?s in there. I also double checked with my dealer when changing my order.

There is a difference of about ?1800 between the Sport with PP and M Sport which I guess is mainly on the wheels, seat and slide control. For me it wasn?t worth it.

I'm still hanging in there but with the bike show looming I could change my mind. None of the current crop appeal to me but the Triumph moto2 765, or if rumours are to be believed the honda V4 will be of interest. The Triumph have sol out already though.

I was also told makes no difference whether M Sport or Sport with PP in terms of delivery....the bikes come when they come!

Am good with it as I know it will be 100% worth the wait
