Brake Pads

The standard OEM brake pads are very good. I've since started using HP race brake pads which offer a very progressive initial bite, which is similar in feel to the OEM brake pads, but then braking power builds much more strongly. Whilst performance from cold is good, once they are up to temperature they perform even better. Under very heavy braking, when thermal loading is at its peak, they respond far better than the standard brake pads and feel at the lever is vastly improved. Ultimately the more heat that you can generate the better their performance, which is exactly what you would expect from a race brake pad. I wouldn't recommend them for road use but for trackdays they are extremely good.

Anyone used SBS street excel? Had them on my blade and thought they were good and much cheaper than OEM.

I've used Bendix MF pads on the road and MCR on the track. Can't fault both and you can get them a damn sight cheaper than the BMW ones.

I was recently forced to swap back to standard pads purchased from a dealers in Brno (how much?) when i started suffering brake fade at the end of the 170mph main straight. It would appear the backing metal isn't the best :)

I've just fitted the Bendix MRR for road and track riding. They take a little warming up over the stock but it's hardly noticeable. I've been using them for a while on the Panigale and they perform similar to the stock Brembos but for half the price. I get them from PDQ who are excellent for delivery.
