Just thought I would say hello, looking to get a 63 plate S1000RR soon, took one out for a long test ride the other day and thought it was great even in town! Just waiting for my SP1 track bike to be picked up and the money in my hands :)

Think I will go for the red and white, tall clear screen and seat cover. Struggling with the exhaust options at the moment as I want a normal sized carbon akro but don't really want to spend £1700, are there any other options to allow me to fit this?

Really considered the CBR 1000RR but it does not feel like a step up from my SP2 that I will be keeping :)

Had a good look but think the only option I can see is a full system to get the standard size carbon akro instead of the stumpy thing. Looked at the decat pipes but can not find an option that would allow the end I want. May have to pull the pin on eBay for a stumpy thing for a while unless there are any options I have missed? I have read about the rod, stand and rear wheel issues are they all linked to the 2013 bikes too as most only mention 2012 bikes? Many Thanks Adam

The rod and stand were assembly issues , not issues with components.
I guess the wheel issue will still be about , as its unlikely they would retool , however they could easily alter the cush drive gromits , I am not really sure how big qan issue the wheel actually is , I dont know if anyone has had any ill affect from it....
They should in theory improve each year they make the bike.....

Cheers for the reply I'm hoping I'm making the right decision to get one. The only issue with the test ride one was the vibrations through the grips but hopefully if the new one has this some r&gs will sort that out.

Found one exhaust option at the moment which is he yoshi R77 with a link pipe that attaches to the original cat however new it's £700 and think a full akro is about £1200 so not sure. Any suggestions?

Alright mate, I chopped my 06 plate SP-2 in for a 10 plate S1000rr last June.

BMW is the better bike but the SP-2 is special in itself. Good skills keeping yours!

One thing - gearbox isn't as good on the BMW, qs can make you lazy too....

Hi mate yes deffo keeping the SP2 as a classic "how I have sold it to the misses" the gearbox on the test bike was a bit stiff but ok just the vibrations in the bars are my biggest worry at the moment.

Got a quick shifter and other bits on the sp so lazy already ;-)

That is true Trump, I also feel the vibes through pegs, but with standard grips and ends my handle bars are vibeless

Need new pegs anyway, left side is bent from scaping floor

Mine is an early 10 plate so probably has the lighter crank, later models had a heavier crank to counteract the vibes I believe.

I also have gilles fxr rearsets, probably doesn't help with the vibes either!

If I bimble about below say 5k rpm it isn't an issue, only when pressing on above 7k rpm does the tingling begin. Still ***** on the other litre bikes so I put up with it....

You'll find that there's a spread of opinions on here about the bike - most of us love it, but to be realistic, there are some issues which crop up more often than they might on something Japanese. Doesn't mean it's a shed, or a bad bike at all - but I'm sure you'd rather go in with your eyes open about what to expect, than everyone tell you how awesome it is to ride, how powerful and how exciting, but gloss over the niggles which can crop up when you get used to the brilliant bits.

Put it this way, people find something to moan about long before they will praise something :) But don't worry, the bike is f*cking awesome in the grander scheme of things!

I know mate and forums are normally used for the moaning aspects of bikes, just could do without my fingers been numb all the time. However I would rather have a good knowledge of the bike before purchase and I have test rode most and still want the S1000RR so will still get a new one plus I think the deal I quite good too.

Already started looking at a full akro, bar ends, pc amongst other bits :)

That's the spirit, ignore our petty moans - overall it's the best litre bike out there.

And you'll still have the SP-2 as well, win all round!

Ive never had numb fingers on my s1000rr only problem i had was a left switch gear. you will not regret buying a S1000 as the smiles per hour outway any issues.
