Well bike went in for a new rocker cover gasket (little seeping of oil)

And ask for fresh oil and filter too. They say the sump has started to corrode again so this one is only 6 months old with 5k.

Warranty runs out in oct :-(

Mine had a leaking rocker cover gasket too which i had "reparied".

When i was cleanign the bike yesterday, i took a look to see if the leak was fixed, and i saw this:

Just looks like they bunged a load of silicone sealant in there - not a neat job either....
planning to send the photo to the dealership as this is not the quality of workmanship i would expect from BMW main dealer on a bike thats less than a year old.

LOL,
Im not being too picky am I?. I'm pretty sure they dont come from the factory smeared in Silicone like this, so why should i accept this as a repair?
email sent to the dealership - lets see what they say.

Hi joeman. In my experience it is bmw uk policy to always replace any faulty items with new, even if the cost is very high compared to repair. I'm gobsmacked that a dealer would do what you describe, so I'm interested to hear how you get on.

I have found that no one really gives a toss these days and the time when the customer was rite and should expect quality workmanship from the dealer is well gone I still have a complaint in at BMW uk so see how that goes and let u know

as for silicon I would be well pissed seeing that from a main dealer

cheeky fuckers
you are totally right to pull them for that IMHO
I would expect new bits also , not silicon.

Pal of mine bought a rover once witha leaky boot , had the car 2 weeks and took it back , they had the car a few days and he got it back fixed , the carpet wont get wet anymore was the reply......

Thay had drilled a hole in the spare wheel well for the water to drain out........no ****

good luck with getting it sorted

That is quality British engineering. Lol. Bit like my old S3 Tvr, had the same 'fix' because the boot would flood with water every time the boot lid was opened after it had rained.
