Hello all,

Rider of some 25 years here... took my first test ride of the 2016 S1000RR last Wed and placed the order on Sat!! Fully loaded in the motorsport colour (except for the pillion pegs and seat which would have delayed delivery) and now three weeks until delivery. Now just browsing for tips and tricks and already shopping for parts, including that seat and pegs for the missus! Paint protection, tailtidy, sliders and power supplies also required so far so recommendations gratefully received especially on the power supply that wont void the warranty... Trading up from a Gixxer, so looking forward to the extra power and all those toys. Anyone near Midlands fancy a spin give me a shout!
TIM

Hi Tim, congratulations on your new bike and welcome to the forum, nice intro. Certainly a few Midland based owners on here :).

Welcome to the forum....
Like you, I am moving to the BMW.... (however, from a 19 y/o Fireblade)

Your shopping list is what I have put together too asking the same sort of questions.... and again, a bit of a delay in waiting ..... !!

Hope to get a confirmed delivery date within the next few weeks.

Welcome Tim, whereabouts in the Midlands are you from? The 2012-16 RR pillion pegs are all identical and the S1000R pillion seat looks identical, I have the comfort version fitted to my '15RR, 5 minute job to swop the lock barrel over from your seat cowl. Although some dealers get a bit sniffy about them re the warranty I would also fit an Evotech radiator and oil cooler guard as the fins take a beating if you don't - easy to fit and no issues at all with engine temperature.

Thanks MacRR, not really willing to move the lock from my cowl. Most of the time it will just be me. Missus has her own bike, and an S1RR isnt really for pillion often, but just occasionally she wants to come on back, so maybe I'll have to source a lock from somewhere. I'll take a look at the rad guard, thanks... its gonna be an expensive month at this rate. Why do we always have to get everything straight away!!!!
P.S. Im Lichfield area, but member of BWDE club south of Birmingham and occasionally out with them.

Welcome. Like you I'm new to the forum, and BMW.

There's a lot of very helpful advice on the forum, been spending hours reading it over the last few day. Some good discount deals as well in the premium section.

I'm also waiting on delivery of a 2016 Motorsport bike, only another 3 weeks to wait! And looking at buying all the same parts that you have mentioned. I didn't think there was so much to paint protection to read about. Waiting to hear back from a crowd in America that can supply an xpel protection kit.

For those of you near Midlands there's a place in Birmingham centre near where I work called covertech who fit the 3M stuff. No idea what they are like but emailed them for a price... If it's reasonable I'll ride it straight over when I've picked the new beast up and let you all know results. Anyone heard of them?
P.S. Is this forum accessible via an app or is it login via web every time?
Thanks!

Ok so Covertech in Midlands have replied to say they don't have the 2015 templates so that's a no go. Anyone know any other venture shield installers in Midlands??

Buy the kit online. Then find a vinyl wrapper/detailer to fit it.

Hi Tim,
I got a tidy tail from SP engineering on ebay, it's well made easy to fit and the indicators are nicely placed.

Hi Tim. Welcome to the site. Venture Shield can be fitted in the grounds of Silverstone circuit, you should find it if you Google it. The paint quality on my 15 Motorsport is appalling with very thin paint. The case with me is that the horse had bolted lol, but it is without doubt the best bike i have ever ridden. I too came from a Gixxer thou.

Have you tried BMW motorrad insurance? They can usually sort something out.... just don't ever claim, they are useless.

Get your dealer involved if BMW Ins don't help off the bat, had to do that when I bought my first bike....
