Hi Guys,

Just purchase a 2012 S1000RR track bike that the previous owner kindly did loads of upgrades to.

I've been trackdaying a 2007 4C8 Yamaha R1 for the past few years and was looking to upgrade when this gem came up.

I'm really looking forward to riding the S1000RR - was getting annoyed at how fast these things are - especially anywhere you can open them up i.e Snetterton back straight.

First outing will be Jerez in March, and I'm having trouble sleeping! Does anyone recommend Race or Slick mode on these animals? I'll be running Bridgestone V02 slicks and it has Ohlins suspension as well if that makes any difference.

Cheers

Hi Scoti,

Welcome along, sounds like a nice bit of kit. I'm pretty sure that after the sighting laps (RACE) most people running slicks on here would be in Slick mode.

Hi Scott, welcome to the forum. You don't need to be running slicks to use slick mode, but it's the mode to use if you are on track for sure. Enjoy :).

Cheers Guys,

Thank you very much for the welcome and advice! It will be interesting to see how the electronics work.

Thanks again
Scott

Recommend you read the manual on the different modes...it's not just DTC/ABS.

Cheers Alex,

Just had a look through the manual and it looks like reduced engine braking in slick mode as well. The ABS on this one has been taken off but the sensors are there still for the DTC which is reduced a bit more in slick compared to race by the looking at the manual. If I have it right the lean angle for DTC is a bit more in slick too?

Cheers again

Sounds right...not sure how the lack of ABS affects things to be honest. Still no idea why people remove it either.
