Hi all, good to see MCN's annual test up to its usual standard ;) Was going to take a Gixxer our for a test ride but can't be bothered - 44 teeth will shortly be posting up an S1000RR v GSX1000R test vid which will be worth watching - I'll post a link up when it comes out. However I am taking the latest Aprilia RSV4 Tuono Factory out for a spin next Sunday which I'm looking forward too - will do a write up, may take a Blade out too that weekend if I have time

I've test ridden the new GSXR1000 apart from the slow speed throttle being terrible the bike was excellent, almost linear acceleration from 6 k to the limiter . Well worth a test ride, The brembo brakes were absolutely awesome.

All very fast machines only the Suzuki manages a sub 10 second quarter though and it's top gear roll in is mighty impressive as is the BM

I test rode the GSXR and standard blade back to back, the GSXR is very good but the blade is even better, it looks and feels better quality, it had the optional quick shifter fitted which is way better than the S1k offering.
I was dispointed when I saw the new blade at the NEC, but now I've ridden it I have completely changed my mind about it. Just goes to prove you should'nt judge a book by its cover.

i also tested the ZX10r and the 1299 Panagali
the ZX10 was a huge disappointment and the Big Ducati was fun but I couldn't live with it.

Might test the R1 this week

Agree with your comments re the ZX10 and 1299, you'll like the R1 its a lot of fun but no autoblipper and dodgy low speed fuelling (both of which can be fixed) and a lack of practicality mean that even a discounted speed block yellow version won't get me off my BMW! Waiting for the local Honda dealer to confirm a test ride next weekend...

What is it that makes the R1 unpractical Mac ?

The other thing I found disappointing with Honda is that the SP is single seat only.

Quite heavy on your wrists at low speed, rock hard seat and poor pillion accommodation v the S1000RR, none of these are issues if you're going for it on your own but are if you're not. Test ride lined up on base Blade with Q/S & autoblipper next Sunday after I've taken the Tuono out, should be an interesting day as long as it stays dry!
