Hi guys and girls, new here to the site.
thought id join up as Ive recently purchased a standard 2017 s1000rr sport and could be doing with some knowledge of all its confusing electronics my old Honda didn't have haha
that and hopefully pick up some aftermarket parts for it.

Hi there,
Is your username based on a car you have, or had? I had an S13 for a bit - was great fun.

The electronics are well documented in the manual for the S1000RR - it's best to just cycle through the menu system and have a look for yourself. Then if you have specific questions let us know.

Thanks man, Yeah still got an garage ornament Silvia s14 kouki (a) crazy high spec and really clean for a 96, just don't have the heart to part with it.
Yeah ive had a read through the manual and makes a bit of sense now. was having a play on slick mode with dtc off and seemed a lot more lovely haha

Ola!

Welcome along..

Electronic wise - the sport model is pretty comprehensive (I don't use much of it myself), buy you'll have :

Cruise control
Heated grips
Pit lane limiter
Speed warning (IIRC?)
Lauch control
Lap timer
(plus some more bits in here)

Then you'll have things like DDC (electronic suspension), variable ABS intrusion, variable traction control, rain/sport/race/slick/user modes (the guys on here will detail (and correct) much more than I can remember about each one) but essentially thats things like how much co-operation the front and rear brake have, anti-wheelie, throttle response yadda, yadda..

It's a fairly customisable machine, especially coming from an older gen bike. Have fun experimenting :)

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new RR!

Have fun experimenting with the numerous electronic settings on the bike, it?s well worth it to find out your ideal setup.
As Alex says if you have any questions just ask away [emoji4]

What sort of riding do you enjoy primarily?

Enjoy the forum, there?s a wonderful community on here and loads of information.
Hope you have many happy miles ahead of you [emoji4]

Thanks guys, most of my riding is fast road if say, I've done a few track days on my last fireblade but currently in the market for a wee 600 track slag as I don't really want to be putting the rr on the track as yet haha

But once you put the RR on track there's no going back :)
