I'm on the verge of buying a 2011 S1000rr and, like so many other things, even though I've not yet got it I can't stop looking at what I can do to it. I've had numerous bikes over the past 40 years of riding and still have a GSXR 1100 that I've owned for 20 years and spent a fortune on, Moriwaki and Yoshimura have nearly bankrupted me. I've also got a couple of older Porsche 911's, but they're no substitute for a bike, hence the need for the S1000rr. Anyway I've been watching the site for a few weeks and, as and when I get the bike, there will be questions but I'm relly looking forward to getting it.

Hi Gazzy, welcome to the forum, plenty of good advice here and it sounds like you will have plenty to give back :).

Thanks mate, first questions will be de cat and pipe related, the bike needs some more noise. I'm pretty certain I'm not the first to think that.

No, not exactly, it's had a repaint, Gilles rearsets, tall screen, tail tidy and an Austin Racing carbon silencer, I just don't think it's loud enough. I have been thinking about a Danmoto link pipe but was concerned it may be too loud, I used to have a 748 Ducati with a full Termi system but I tend to go out early on a Sunday morning for a run, I felt I was pushing my luck with my neighbours friendship with the Ducati. It's a friends bike who was thinking of selling, I don't usually ride bikes other than my own but had a go, suddenly the GSXR felt very old and life wouldn't be complete without the BM. The problem is I can't just buy a bike and be happy with it, I have to tinker and fit shiny bits to it.

From what you have described a decat would certainly increase the noise levels. Whether you find it acceptable or not is subjective. Does the end can have a baffle?
