How loud do you think it is? Thinking of weather it will pass a noise test at a track or not. My bog standard pipe was reading 101!

Was that at Snett? My full Akra comes in at 100dB, and its miles louder than the standard.

Yep I couldn't believe it and it wasn't just me Lloyd (Broads) tested the same with his Akra slip on. Its been creeping up every time. I suspect their machine but there's no arguing with them. I think Baz was getting well under 100 even with arrow downpipes and Akra can. If it gets any worse and the limit is 102 there I'm going to have to think about a full system but that means dyno time etc as well.

Don't need dyno time with a full system, PCV maps readily available. But a full system will make the sound issue worse, surely? The are big problems with the sound testing/tester at Snetterton. Discussed regularly on another forum. MSV are aware of it.

Its the same bloke doing it and he virtually sticks the detector up the pipe instead of the usual half a metre away. All the full systems I've seen have pass usually with a baffle fitted its not a route I want to go because it will be a fair wedge of cash. Perhaps if MSV get a handle on it then it will change hopefully.

Greg There has to be someting wrong here! If they start to fail a standard bike what hope have we got? I'm like Lloyd and have a Akro slip on can, but I'm sure its no louder than the standard. I can't see how a full system can be quieter than one with the cat still on. Are you sure it was down to the way you looked at the old boy? ;) After all his from Norfolk and most of them are'nt to keen on Essex wide boys ;) ;)

Ha I bet he's a traffic warden in his spare time. I know that the valve near the end of the pipe opens up at about 5500 rpm, just after the point where they test the noise at the factory. Having seen whats inside the standard main silencer there isn't much sound absorbing material it could be braking down and the valve may be sticking. The full system has more pipe length and a Akra long can probably has more absorbing power.

That is loud UJ for stock, mine with Yoshi slip on was 97 at cadwell t'other week, my mate's 1198 was 99 with stock cans albeit it's been ridden more than mine. You're right tho' don't argue with em... i once saw a guy fail so they told him to go do a big loop & come back, silly sod tried arguing..... erm not wise move ???

My LeoVince is too loud to live with without the baffle. But with the baffle in and once it's warmed up you do loose a few Db's and it's ok.

Jordans in Leeds fitted my PCV, got a really good price, cheaper than online. And for an extra £40 the did a custom map for all the gears throughout the range. I've not used any of the standard PCV maps, I'm sure they're fine. But you do notice the extra horses and the smooth power delivery straight away, especially at lower revs. No popping & spluttering and hunting for power!
