Dealers and error codes

So the bmw approved 2011 s1rr I bought is throwing up an engine warning light whenever it goes over certain rpm, approx 8k. It stays on until the bike is switched off.

It's gone back in today to the local dealer to be checked. I asked them to tell me what error codes the diagnostic tool shows, but was told they won't give out that info 'because it's their tool'.

Any thoughts?

If they've hooked it up to a BMW tis machine to do a fault memory reset, ask them for a print out to show any faults that were stored. There's no reason why they shouldn't give you one unless there's something to hide, hope this helps you
