Clinking from top yoke

After having done a few trips now, When holding front brakes and rocking the bike backwards and forwards there?s an audible clicking noise and can feel through the yoke and handle bars.

are headset bearings a weak point on the gen 3?

Hi, not a weak point. Just like any bike they do need adjusting and greasing occasionally. J

Mine was like that from new!
I was a bit upset at the time and wondered how it had got through it?s PDI without being spotted.

I just complained about it and they picked it up, adjusted it I presume and delivered it back.

It's checking the tightness of the top yoke nut. My Gen 4 was only finger tight and no thread lock.

The dealer advised to put front wheel against a solid object such as a wall and rock bike forwards to test headset, I had no clicking then. May be movement in the brake pads is the general feeling

Float on the disc buttons, play in the pads/calliper, loose bolts in the front suspension

On mine the discs are bolted direct to wheel no floating hub pins

Ah. Std Gen 3 cast wheels. When rocking don?t squeeze the brake and hold the top yoke to see if you feel anything. Then apply brake and see/feel anything. Check bottom fork leg bolts as well. J

they are still mounted through rubber mounts though,so will have some movement

I forgot that amongst my millions of mods I fitted floating discs on my cast wheels last year. J
