Hello,

Being 23, my insurance is over 3k for my 17 RR. I am trying numerous ways to get it down, one of which is getting an alarm and a tracker installed.

I had a previous alarm installed by GAP Security and it did the job, however because of "EU" regulations, it wasn't very loud (Noise pollution apparently) and didn't even beep when it armed and disarmed!! (I managed to fix that bit however).

Does any one have any companies they have used before for bike alarms (I'm based in North London), can recommend a good bike alarm manufacturer and similarly a good tracking company.

Cheers,

Barron

+1 for Biketrac.

For alarms Meta & DataTool are the main insurance approved (Thatcham) manufacturers. Most BMW dealers would fit. Other bike dealers would also, but /I'd go with a dealer that knows the wiring loom well.

The BMW factory alarm is made by Meta but not Thatcham approved - not because its any less good, but just because BMW didn't submit it for approval AFAIK.

Pragmasis do good chains and ground anchors http://securityforbikes.com/

Being 24 insurance was / is issue for me, however the postcode wasn't that unfavourable

BMW alarm wasn't recognised, however it was added as the same thatcham as a Datatool S4 (red)
Locking in a garage with a ground anchor is a project I'm looking into myself (even though insurance doesn't require it)

Almax / Pragmasis chain + Squire CS65 lock would be the next alternative to lower insurance. However these are not portable.

Will you be commuting or just pleasure? I had to explain my works site is secure. Well apart from a Vicar & Quaker breaking in last Sunday to try and damage Eurofighters 😂😂

Best to ring a broker such as (BeMoto listed reviews are on here) who helped me out being under 25.
