Hello
im picking my S1000RR up next week and it's a bit of a mind field on what is the best security is best to secure your pride and joy and try and stop theft.
im looking at chains disc locks and so on please direct me the right way.
i have been hit before by a theft so I want to try my best to make it as hard as possible for the scum bags if they try it again.
also mine has not got the BMW alarm can you just plug in a BMW S1000RR alarm unit or has it got to be programmed by BMW i know it is not the best alarm it's just better than cutting into your loom to put a after market job on the bike.
any help is much appreciated.

At home Almax Series 3 and Series 4 chaining my bikes together (front/rear/anchor) And that's in a garage with CCTV and a car parked in front of doors! (7 years no claims and they still want ?900 renewal on a clean licence - DONT MOVE TO LONDON). Would never leave in public car park.

Also got myself and Oxford Tracker, its a removable thing i put into the bike. Works well... it is tracked the bike movements in a metal sided lorry all the way to Spain as part of a trackday transport. 10 year life under normal use. Dont know about mauf alarms

Use Almax pop up on ebay every now and then and here is the non-approved tracker

Dont stress and enjoy the bike!

Hi Micky,

If the bike didn't come with the BMW alarm the bike will need to go in to the dealer to have it programmed if you decide to add one. Although they are not thatcham approved I have one on my bike just so it makes a noise if anyone tampers with it. Gives me a little comfort if I park up somewhere for a brew :).

Almax chains are very good. The only issue is how to secure the bike with one as the bodywork and frame don't leave any routes so wheels / swingarm are the best bet although not completely secure.

BeMoto included my BMW alarm and as it wasn't on their system put it down as a Datatool S4 Red alarm (which I have on my Triumph). Much prefer the BMW alarm!

Hi Micky. I'm a fan of BikeTrac and have them fitted after being the victim of theft a few years back, great for looking back at the rides you have done on the maps function, also detects if you crash and will contact help in the event of "Bike down" and no response from you. Worth consideration if you ride alone.

check out Pragmasis Anti pinch pin, chains and padlocks.....serious security!

I'm upgrading my 3m 16mm Pragmasis chain to a 19mm so considering selling my 16mm chain if you're interested .....i could possibly get it cut down to 2 x 1.5m as 3m is probably too long for most applications?? Its a serious piece of kit and way beyond the realms of any bolt cutters. Feel free to PM me if interested? ;)

Just out of interest did anyone else see the piece on the telly a couple of days ago, think it may have been on the news, about how Land Rover are now installing a new type of tracker that is undetectable by thieves and is so small it can fit/integrate inside any part of the vehicle (headlight housing for example) without being noticed. Works from within freight containers etc, self powered. Obviously LR were sketchy on the details but were confident it was a game changer. How cool would that be on bikes?

As BaronVG was commenting recently too, how much would it really cost BMW etc to offer a tracker on every bike, put somewhere inaccessible.

Another vote for Almax, though tbh I've not had mine tested thankfully.
