The new GSXR has finally landed at my local dealers been to see it today on an open day. Some of the spec was disappointing on the standard model ie no quick shift or down shift blipper.
Was a brunch event where we were offered croissants the usual breakfast for most bikers I'm sure

Holy crap. It burned my eyes as I scrolled down the page. It must be deliberately bad?

edit - the can in the third picture. :)

This surely has to be the ugliest bike on the market currently?

That can is huge doesn't seem to affect it's mighty power and torque

Blue is a standard Gsxr the red I think is the CBR and the green the zx10

Those are interesting numbers. It's more about handling than it is bhp for me, I am not good enough to use all the power I have now consistently :). What's the decat output going to be like on ones of those I wonder?

I can't say I'm a fan of the colour scheme but I'm not a fan of the current BMW schemes either. It's certainly a case of personal taste which I think is a good thing.

Looks 10x better in black, that front end still looks awful though IMO.

I don't mind either of those at all. The black front fork sleeves and fork bottoms on a black bike always look good imo.

I was looking at mine yesterday thinking the bottom fork castings would be nice in black!

I test rode one yesterday - the non-R - so no quickshifter, BFF suspension etc.

I was very impressed with the power delivery; grunty, smooth, proper top end and brilliant induction noise.

Handling: Confident, planted - it wants to wheelie on the power though!

It was the first time I'd seen one in the metal (MotoGP colours) and it definitely looks better than in photos. Much smaller than I had imagined but the riding position and ergonomics were spot on.

Downsides? It was hunting in 30/40 limits, hard to maintain a steady throttle. Doesn't feel 'special' enough, although at under ?14K for the non-R I think reasonable value. ?16K for the R version is steep.

I'm testing the RR next Saturday so in a good position to compare the two.

I think I already know which way I'm heading though...;)

Cheers

Mike

The can is an eyesore but does it have the cat in it? If it has Suzuki have played a blinder, we'd all put a Yoshi or suchlike on it anyway and then no need for a de cat pipe.

Probably only Honda are as good at low speed stuff on a Superbike (as BMW). The fueling on small throttle openings is generally bob-on. But, I have to say that the '17 FBW Throttle is easily affected by a bump or two in town.

They have played a blinder here...the cat is contained within the silencer(presumably accounting for its dustbin sized dimensions), meaning a straight through system is achievable with a can change only...

Interesting :)

It would explain the gravitational pull of the factory end can.
