Battery size

Am I right in saying that the 15/16 bikes use a smaller battery? I have a lithium ytz10s and wondering if it will fit. I don't mind selling the battery with my Fireblade but if I'm trading the bike in for my new s1000rr I'd keep it if it will fit and get a cheap battery off eBay.

OEM Battery

The 2015/16 model uses a Yuasa YTZ7S MF OEM battery which is a lighter version than that used on previous S1000RR models. It's certainly not as light as a Lithium battery though.

As far as im aware, if the bike is fitted with a factory alarm it comes with a larger AGM battery

What battery was it fitted with? Is the battery compartment the same size as the 10-14 model then so it can accomodate larger batteries?

My '16 bike had the smaller battery (it really does look tiny considering all the electronics on these bikes), when it needed to be replaced because it was faulty, the dealership said it should have had a bigger one originally because of the alarm

Yes, if using the smaller battery there's a plastic frame the battery sits in
