Anyone used these?

Are they BSA or TUV approved? Has more effort gone into how they look as opposed to testing how they perform? Don't want to state the obvious but it would be your funeral:crash_smilie:

Not saying I'm buying them, just want to know if anyone's used them as I've never heard I Chinese wheels before.
I thought they specialised in levers and rearsets

It's a bit of a gamble with Chinese stuff, screens, seats and body panels I'd use but any critical components definitely not.

Performance Bikes did a safety/destruction test on Chinese wheels a while back, not sure if I still have the issue. It didn't throw up any concerns.

I used Chinese discs (Kagizume) on my Bandit 1200 and TL1000S for several years after going through several sets of OEM discs, all of which warped. Absolutely zero issues, and they performed better than OEM.

None of that proves these wheels are great, but there's no reason to automatically doubt anything made in China- they make a lot of of quality stuff now, both aftermarket and OEM. When I was a kid "Made in Japan" didn't inspire confidence, now they're associated with quality and reliability.

I disagree with flymo, they still produce a lot of crap.

IMO the problem with anything Chinese is you just don't know what the quality control is or the alloy quality. They will be cheap for a reason, probably the quality of the materials and low production costs. In Europe there are strict laws and testing/approval regimes on critical parts as well as controlled alloy grades.

Not saying all Chinese stuff is rubbish, it's about having confidence in what you are buying. As already mentioned, non critical stuff like screens might be sensible but anything that you cannot afford to fail I'd personally not go there.

Run the proverbial mile mate! China now copy Stihl chainsaw's, Brembo master cylinder's and no doubt Ohlins shock's. They have all proven to kill you sooner or later.

Friend of mine uses one on his s1000rr track bike-no problems at all.
I'm sure I read somewhere that the bmw cast wheels were made in china anyway!
Probably advisable to fit new bearings as they don't cost much.

I don't think the problem people have is the "Made in China" bit it's the stuff that appears on eBay at such attractive prices you have to wonder how much research and development went into it. Some of my favourite gadgets including my iPhone are made in China and are faultless.

you are very right about China, however they have been copied from a BMW pattern. Folk might very well be right that the Originals come from China, but when you see their description with word "fits BMW" I'd run a mile.

Maybe I'll buy 10 and stick them up for sale for ?500 each :semi-twins: (Im Joking before anyone gives me the Morality Lesson)

Seriously though why are wheels for these bike like rocking horse dropping? I need a pair but cant find any for sale, and the ones i did come accross were a grand.

Stating the obvious - It's middle of the season. This is the exact opposite time to be hoping for a bargain.

What-you mean if it was ?500,it would be OK!

I bet BMW buy them(from wherever) for much less than that.

How much you wanna bet baz? I'll have some of that :).

I don't think that was the point of marzy's comment mate. Producing high quality wheels using high quality alloy for ?200 a wheel (including a profit margin) really is a big leap of faith. My last set of MTB Mavic wheels were more than that :).

There is a big difference between stuff being made in China for a brand like BMW and stuff being made in china and sold by chinese businesses. The former will have strict quality controls and specifications that have to be adhered to along with regular quality testing of suppliers products. And its not uncommon for western companies that outsource to that part of the world to put their own people in those businesses to ensure quality control.

Would be good if someone could post up a link to this info as we have 2 different claims with regards to testing
