This has probably been asked but has anyone got a USB connection for a phone. It would be really handy if I could charge my phone on the go .

Cheers

Gimme a week and ill sort you out, I've made a lead that runs from the battery via a relay connected to the plug above the horn. I've ordered some usb transformers to go with it but they haven't arrived yet.

I'll be making a few of them for anyone who's interested, my lead would be able to draw up to20a comfortably. enough for a satnav, phone, day running lights, even spotlights if you wanted. I'll make a post about it soon.

Sounds like just what I'm after too - A cable to drive a tomtom 410 and a usb socket to power the phone so I can scream away to kylie and marilyn manson.

Ironically I've been in the garage tonight trying to connect my Garmin 590... as I can't get anything to work, I looked on the topics and found this thread hallelujah. Bought the said plug from BM dealer, checked manual, said top plug (2017 bike) dealer wrote positive wire is #1 and earth is #3, wire 2 not used. Plug fits in top connector ok. Temporarily used scotch locks to connect to the spaghetti junction Garmin lead, using the red live lead and black battery earth lead to see if it all worked before making current connections . Connected said unit and sat nav never switched on. Swapped wires around and still no joy. Checked plug feed and cannot get 12 volts using test lamp (not multimeter) as steve wrote above it's the bottom plug....so tomorrow will give that a go first thing.

Check the colour of the wires on the plug, red is live brown is earth. If they're all blue then you have the wrong plug (I've not seen the plug on the2017 but there's no reason it'll be different)

But I'm pretty sure the manual is wrong on the 2015...

I'm taking it that the red wire will give 12V with test lamp and ignition on?

Here are the diagrams from the 2016 and 2017 owners books, both of them say it's the top plug, but that is incorrect. It's the other way around... I'm surprised they haven't changed it...

I am looking to power my iPhone 7 via plug in power supply on lhs of the bike (2017) with a usb point and Nippy Normans have suggested this lead.

http://www.nippynormans.com/f650stf650csf650gsf650-dakar/bmw-harness-to-female-usb-socket

anyone tried this option with any success ?
I have looked under model specifics on their website and cannot see this one coming up
Other thought is that the wires seem pretty long so may have to tuck a lot out of the way.

That should work fine, but it's limited to 1amp, your iPhone will take about 2.5 so it may struggle to charge if you're wanting to use the phone while charging?

That's useful to know, I've only plug it in, but haven't used it properly. I'll try it out tomorrow

Cheers Stephen, 1 amp should be fine for the limited use I am going to give it.
