Read somewhere on the thread section that the axle and nut are a weak point on early S1000rr's.

Need to adjust the chain on my recently acquired bike, Am i going to experience similar issues?

Thanks

Alan

Rear Axle Nut

I have changed wheels countless times and never had an issue.

So normal undoing as it looks like a nyloc insert and IIRC someone mentioned having to prize out the insert of the nut prior to undoing?

Also anyone know the Torque value?

Thanks

Alan

Rear Axle Nut

Just unscrew and remove it. There is nothing more to it and when tightening, torque to 100 Nm.

Think its 100nm, but suspect Ryan knows :).

In the early days some racers had problems with the oe rear axle and nut. The nut uses a mechanical lock mechanism (don't ask me to explain how as I don't know, someone feel free to enlighten). Anyway, after lots and lots of use the reports were that the nut eventually loses its ability to perform. Bearing in mind these were racers changing tyres constantly I don't think there is anything to worry about. And it was back in gen 1 days.
