Hello, Have a full conical system at moment but really want the carbon hexagonal end can. If anyone has one or knows someone with one please let me know!
I've just had a look at mine in the garage. The reason the carbon can sticks up like it does is because it doesn't have the long, welded on bracket as fitted to the HP can. It looks to me that the carbon wrap around mounting makes the hole centres further apart, thus having to lift the can to get it to bolt up to the fixed mounting on the frame. Does that make sense?
On my bike the carbon collar is different for attaching to the pegs or just the hangar. The one in the pic looks like its attached to the hangar using the wrong collar. And is the bracket akra or third party, mine is a nice piece of carbon?
Also linked is the schematic which lists the part numbers for the actual exhaust, and the correct carbon fibre loop strap which connects to the exhaust hanger bracket which secures it to the subframe.
If buying secondhand make sure that you buy the exhaust with the correct part number as the later Akrapovič exhausts are not always compatible with the earlier models. You will find the part number affixed to the box/packaging and it may stamped or laser-etched on the exhaust itself. Note that this is not always the case on those exhausts which have a carbon fibre outer sleeve like the one you are looking for.
If buying new your cheapest option will be to buy from Calsport.
The only way to mount that particular Akrapovič exhaust to your headers would be to use the supplied stainless steel clamp. The only Akrapovič carbon fibre exhaust that uses a spring mounting for the 15+ model is the WSBK version, however that will not fit as the pipe diameter is 70mm. That and they are not generally available to the public as they are only sold to the race teams. Using the stainless steel clamp will be absolutely fine with the exhaust that you are looking for.
