Mine is also a Optimate 4. I have never heard of the cold having a detrimental effect on batteries (Unless yer in Iceland) . (Yes, you will have slow cranking going on due to the oil thickening and a tighter engine) I haven't heard of any current drain issues with the s1000, unlike my GSXR1000...

Leave the battery connected, I always do. I put a charger on mine each month for a couple of hours.

To be honest mate not a lot. Gps tracker ?50. CCTV ?90. Text alarm ?50-?100.

For me it's important to have more than one line of defence, that's why I have a cctv camera which sends a photo to my phone if triggered. A text alarm when triggered to a 2nd company phone and one other secret device.....oh and the tracker.

I got caught as well mate. Bought one of those ?11.99 units which was accurate to a mile lol. The Maplin device contains its own battery which lasts about 4 days if the bike battery is disconnected which also helps when installed on the drone.
