Can i ask guys like Godzilla and Hopper and anyone else who uses their bikes on track - do you turn everything OFF when youre on track and is this called SLICK mode?? Ive not taken mine on track yet but im at Cadwell on the 22nd - but the main reason im asking in relation to this thread is that it sounds like the traction control and anti wheelie cut in far too quickly making it difficult to ride smoothly on track - so do you turn everything fully off (slick mode??) or would it be better paying for a reflash and getting these devices adjusted to suit and dumb them down. I bought the BMW mainly because of these new electronic gizmos so if i can utilise them rather than turn them completely off then that would be better potentially.

Slick mode still has traction control and allows wheelies for upto 5 seconds it is the lean angle and amount of intrusion that alters with the modes

yes its in all modes from what i understand. i dont tend to ride hard enough in the rain to get the traction working hard. I would have thought that if the intervention is not as harsh then it will not de stabilise the bike as much

So Slick Mode is not everything off then?? So what do most people put the bike in when on track??

I have used race and slick on track. Prefer slick, I find it ok.

(I did go out in rain once by mistake at Oulton first session. I went straight through Hislops after the ABS cut in and I couldnt make the corner :eek-new: )

If its your first time on track, I'd say using a race mode will be fine. If you find it too intrusive, I'd then use slick mode :)

Hoops, if the traction isn't great at Cadwell I would recommend race mode. If will give you the confidence to wind it on through park and Charlie's knowing there is a safety net plus until you get used to the mountain and what happens where ( certain areas tend to flick the front up quite dramatically) it is a nice feeling. Once you are comfortable hit slick mode, it's fine but it will still allow you to loop it over the mountain. To be honest the marshals get a bit shirty if you lift the wheel and keep it there so Race mode is nice. Just my opinion and I like both modes.

Sorry hoops I just read elsewhere that you have ridden Cadwell before, you know the score. On my first outing with the BM Race was pretty good but I couldn't really push it due to weather.

I might call him up and see if be can just adjust the DTC levels.

Having just spent out on a custom map I'm not going to spend again on the assumption I might get a few more horses. There's more than enough as it is and I'm very happy with my throttle response now.

Incidentally, my brand new PCV and custom map was £300. Way less than a re-flash ;-)

Where did you get that from i cant find a pcv for less than £299 and last time i had a bike mapped it was £150 yours was a bargin.

USA. Bit of bartering and a decent exchange rate got me one for £200.

The genius I use for mapping charges £100.

I have looked at your dyno guy. I used BSD last time and they wont do dyno work till the bike has loosened up a bit.
What does your guy say about that? Just asking what the thoughts are as to wait or get it done im runing akra race full system no baffle and a k&n so i need to get my fueling looked at.

DWR was happy to dyno my bike with 900 miles on it.

It's had it's first service so I had no problem with a dyno session. It's personal choice.
