Stupid question

Just back from hols and catching up on sky plus bikes. Why do world superbikes start at the 'old start position' at silverstone instead of the expensive new start position?

Anyway WSB wouldn't pay for the new pits apparently.

I've got even more bizarre question (sorry). What is it exactly when you talk about old/new start position? Is it they moved start finish line somewhere else or there is something more than just painter lines on the tarmac that you have to pay extra for it?

They are on completely different bits of the track. The old start/finish and pits complex is still used for one layout of the track, while the new pits complex and building is on what was the old back straight, created a couple of years ago as part of the F1 upgrades.

Pretty canny, as they can operate the section with the old pits simultaneously with something else going on on another layout, inc the new pits.
