Sorry mate, did my post without really looking to see if there was already one done! Aplogies for that. Really disappointing this news, sounds like they don't agree with some of the cahnges they want to make in WSB in the future maybe??

:)

My only hope is that it's a withdrawl on the promise of the spec ECU that appears to be happening in MotoGP - they always said that they'd look at it if the rules went spec ECU...

But really annoying for our bikes - plus they are now getting rare in Superstock - can only assume the Kawasaki is cheaper to run quickly than the BM. Or the Japs did it properly and made it a racebike with not many mods needed - springs and a pipe and it's mere seconds off the full Superbike...

I think you've hit the nail on the head there, the Bm's are probably too expensive for your average club racer to run. Someone told me its £3,500 for a replacement frame alone. I don't know what a ZX10 frame would cost, but I'm willing to bet its no-where near that much.

Hondas are still about in WSB and there's been no factory involvement from them for ages - although they are involved elsewhere and there's HRC kit parts etc...

Tough to say. You have to think if they'd not been beaten by a thinly disguised GP bike in the form of the Aprillia for the past 3 years, the decision might be different. That said, Aprillia did make a GP bike for the road and anyone can go out and buy one, so I guess it's what the class will generate...

Got a sneaking suspicion it means they are going for road dominance, not racing... No way they'll kill the line - it's made lots of cash and really helped their company image. Look at what Suzuki have done with the GSXR line since they pulled out of superbike on a factory basis - it's become the road bike of the 1000s. Betcha BMW think that it'll be easier and a better fit for them to push the S1K down that route - to really dominate superbikes, they'd need to throw out the design and start from a clean sheet - not gonna happen in this financial climate...

No I think you might be right , however looking at it from a glass half full perspective , may be you own a collectors picec and just don't know it yet ;)
