I contemplated an early 18k service was very tempted to use Stephen (logistics and time) decided to let Dalkeith pick it up yday.

Service desk called me today and ask had I the rear wheel off at any time, ya said me. The spindle is on USD ? I never knew there was a way it went on.each side with the chamfered ends look identical. Anyone else aware of this. PS he didnt know why but there is a Top and Bottom mark..

interesting Stuart, never realised that? thought it only went one way..... will need to look next time I take the wheel out, did he say what the problem is with it being USD?

how much are Dalkeith charging your Stuart? I am at nearly 15000 miles so with probably need the 18000 mile service done this year

Not sure it makes THAT much of a problem Alex tbh, he didn't know why either, so really don't think it's an issue, you would like to think it is there for a reason tho lol.

So Davy, I was a bit confused but I'll try and explain... they are charging me ?150.00 for Oil and Filter and a look over. Then they explained as I had missed the 12k service I could add an air filter in and that would be the 12k service, but then I wouldn't need the next service in effect the 18k one in 6 thousand miles.. even tho then my bike would then show say around 21k...you got that ! lol. He says then he could sell it as genuine BMW FULL history machine..if it came to it that is, but I doubt I would sell it tbh. The air filter was something like 50 quid, but today he said he would do the hale lot for ?171.00. So 2 filters, oil, techies time and expertise, biked picked up and delivered and book stamped for that..pretty decent I thought. Why no go for that then. I'll get the big one done in the summer as I'll rattle 6 thou on to it no bother this year, I'll probably go to Stephen for that one, we both could if you fancy it..wee trip down and an overnighter..Stephen's price is WAY less than the dealer. I'll PM you.

nice one stuart good deal that, sounds like a plan mate, will need to start saving if it's mad dear , got two family holiday to pay for this year......... apparently 4 days at Almeria with the bike doesn't count as a family holiday, a mean a even said the wife and wee man could stay in the same hotel lol

Let me know if you do decide to come down, I'd be happy to pretend to translate the local dialect in return for beer :).

Careful Soof I think Stuart is trying like a bear to get Davy on an overnighter where no-one will hear him scream, LOL. Two's company threes a party.......

I'm heading down to your part of the world on Saturday to a place called Adventure Bike in Swinton, apparently theres a free chilli on the go and a guy there will help me get my bike back from Bangkok.

Got to be back in Jockland for my nephews Christening on Sunday so a bit of a border raid.

Lot of ppl put axle in the other way so it tightens up AGAINST the adjusters instead of away from them, over tightening the chain in the process

FFS. What / where are the marks on the rear axle to indicate top and bottom? Can I see them with the axle fitted or does it needs removing.
