Seized Engine

My mate on his 64 plate 3rd gen S100RR Seized his engine at Cadwell today. Bugger.....

Blimey - don't hear of that much. Any ideas on a cause?

Surely you mean that his engine seized whilst riding on a public road which coincidentally happened to be near Cadwell?

His engine locked up around 10000rpm 100mph corner around Cadwell somewhere. Went onto the grass as the wheel partially locked. Recovered back to the pits and managed to start it with an extreme engine rattle and i believe misfire. Engine then locked solid and unable to turn the engine over. Still under warranty mind.

That's not good, had it done a lot of track work or mainly road? I take it he'll be fitting part worn road tyres before taking it in to the dealer....

Not good to hear. Could they wriggle out of a claim?
I can understand if it was modified and used for racing but surely the odd track day shouldn't affect a warranty.

I think you're referring to the soft lobe which was a fairly early issue.

My 11 needed a new camshaft and valves because of it
He did say he thinks it was the camshaft
