I fitted a PCV to my gen 2 racebike, wired it to the lower injectors as per the instructions and had it custom mapped at a place up north , I wasn't overly impressed with the custom map but that's not a story for here.

anyway, I've been told this morning that the lower injectors are the wrong injectors to wire your PCV to and apart from that an ECU remap Is way better than a PCV

so I've phoned a place called hilltop motorcycles in Leicester and he's has quoted me on getting an ECU remap and I'm seriously thinking of taking it down.

has anyone here used hilltop and can reccomend them?

SimonOsbourne on here has and was happy enough
Another guy Iain had his done too.

The ECU flash is probably best for a racebike. However you can brick the ECU's doing it.

The alternative is the Alpha ECU or BMW HP...

Hilltop Racing were the known guys for breaking into the 2012/2013 onwards to present Triumph ECU's that had been locked down heavily so obviously know their trade 👍

Only heard positives about their work since.

ECU Remapping

There are a couple of types of ECU mapping and some techniques are quite intrusive and require physically altering the ECU. When it comes to reprogramming fuel maps, ignition maps, association between throttle and throttle bodies etc the work is extremely time consuming. The process is quite intricate when done properly and requires a high degree of skill. Personally I would opt for the HP Racing Data Release (and HP Race ECU on pre-2015 models) and if I wanted to go further then use a RCK. Along with alpha Racing the only other company that I've heard good things about in numerous race paddocks with regards to ECU flashing is JHS Racing. Power Commanders are still very good, when tuned properly, but given how complicated the electronic management is on the S1000RR I would be extremely hesitant about getting a third party to map the ECU. Despite what anyone says there is no magic formula that unlocks tens of Bhp from within the ECU so proceed with caution.

I had a 2011 s1000rr remapped at Hilltop after fitting a full system, I first went down the PV custom map route and it made the bike worse.

The remap made the bike much smoother on the throttle and made the traction and anti wheelie smoother. I was not interested in the BHP gains just that the bike ran correctly, it was a noticeable improvement after the remap.
I fully understand Rys1000RR comments regarding the HP power kit and that is the BMW kit, but you are looking at ?1000s not hundreds.

Hilltop was recommended to me by my BMW dealer as he knew lots of people that had GS1200s done as well as S1000rr.

At the end of the day as they say you pay your money and you take your choice.

ECU Remapping

If it's for a race bike you might want to check the technical rules and regulations of the organisation you are racing with. Many prohibit ECU remapping and if your bike is checked and the ECU is found to be tampered with before, or post-race, by scuntineering you may be disqualified.

There's nothing to worry about on the rules side of things, I'm trying to find out if an ECU remap gives better results than a PCV on these bikes. Not neccassarily more power but just better results all round
appreciate your comments on the HP kit etc but I'm looking to spend a max of around ?400 on getting it mapped which is why I'm looking for feedback on hilltop.
Ive done abit of remapping in the past so I'm aware of how it works but what I don't know is how the s1k reacts to an ECU map compared to a PCV

thanks for mentioning JHS, I will give them a call tomorrow for a chat but they might be abit far away
