S1000 stolen tracking system

I had my beloved s1000.stolen last Wednesday,still pist off gutted and speechless......
I'm asking about tracking system which should make the bike safer.... I know that it can be traced from underground car park and container but I've heard it won't work on a leather cover.
Does any one know if its the case?

Thanks, it was taken from cable street which is off the a13 shadwell area,it had a disc block on , normally i cover it too but i forgot it that night, it is a normal car park in front of my gym ... It took 16 hours to close case from police they have no one specialised in that field anymore. The more days pas the more it hurt. But we have to look forward and get smarter i guess

East London is rife with bike theft recently, little feckers two up on scooters roam around looking for something to nick.

sorry to hear that mate I'm a bit paranoid about it going missing myself. put the full datatag kit on mine a couple of weeks back and etched/scratched and stamped the bike numbers on every component I came across under the fairing. was just looking at the tracker transponder stuff online myself.

Trouble is, all the security in the world won't help, the kind of people going around stealing £13k worth of bike, have it in a van within 30 seconds and all security measures disabled one way or another within minutes.

These days they are out the country within a few days intact as a whole bike.

It only helps for peace of mind and insurance premiums.

Or on a track near you!! how many track bikes are there without a v5?!! I'd put money on that a good chunk of them are not ligitimate

Thanks fenick, i drop my guard and got punished, a guy with an r6 got it stolen twice and recovered because the teacker , he went to the place with many others and the gang gave back, ( he was going for it big time...)
I guess it depends who does the robbery some black marker puts down orders and some gangs are very well organise. If you secure it at home and if u go some were keep it under your view all the time.

I have a tracker on my Ducati. Its a transferable unit you can move from vehicle to vehicle. If your bike is moved without the ignition switched on it will alert you, the call centre (who will then call you) and 2 other named people by text and email.
It will also alert your named people if the bike is at an angle of XXX or greater, indicating that you have fallen off.

You can also use it to trace your routes where you have ridden.

It works well as I have been called x2 by the system. 1st time for moving my bike about 10ft by pushing it and 2nd time I put it in my van.
You can turn it off by texting the unit, by calling the centre or by unticking a box on the web.

It will also alert your named people if the bike is at an angle of XXX or greater, indicating that you have fallen off.

You can also use it to trace your routes where you have ridden.

It works well as I have been called x2 by the system. 1st time for moving my bike about 10ft by pushing it and 2nd time I put it in my van.
You can turn it off by texting the unit, by calling the centre or by unticking a box on the web.

Couple of questions, does your insurer give a discount for having this fitted and how quickly do you think the police would react if you reported a theft that had just happened and were actively tracking ?

Police can react quickly on occasion if resources are available and close enough, e.g tracking company on the phone to police giving minute by minute locations of a stolen Merc. Merc parked inside derelict building, police arrive and arrest person inside vehicle trying to deactivate tracking device. Seems location was a chop shop. Unfortunately it does not always end like this, but without the tracker the Merc would have been in pieces inside a container on it's way to Europe or Africa.

I'll add bike at an angle off XXX for 10 mins or something..

To fit the tracker was the only way I could have my bike insured and I have max NCD been riding sports bikes for 34yrs....only 3 people would insure. The beauty of this product is that its portable, I don't mean you can swap it to every vehicle you ride but if you sell you simply remove and attach to your new steed. It gives great peace of mind.
I have heard of instances where the Police will not respond, even if told where the vehicle is....all about priorities, their priorities.
