Hi all.

Looking at buying a 2023 s1000rr sport. Just wondering on what to look out for? Pros and cons etc just anything in general really. Coming from a 2022 Tuono v4 factory.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi Mark,
The 2023 is a revised Gen 4 (2019-2022). It has a number of under the skin updates which means overall it should be a safe bet.
You will read about issues on the internet, but the sheer volume of sales vs documented issues suggests overall that, well cared for, the bikes are pretty reliable.

Track vs Road use doesn't matter, everyone with an RR should take it to the track and enjoy the potential they bought.

Hi Mark, I had a Tuono Factory before my S1kRR. The ‘prilia’s torque is off the scale and delivered a lot lower than the Beemer. It is a “rip your arms off” engine. The gearing on the Beemer is a lot longer too. At high speed (>95mph) the Beemer is a lot more comfortable, as you aren’t sat with your arms spread in a gale. It also feels lighter on its toes, although both bikes are good through the twisties. Seating when not “making progress”, is much better on the ‘prilia, but I never got used to it as I’ve had sports bikes before and after.
Servicing cost I think are about the same, but compared to the Beemer, the ‘prilia has a serious drink problem - <30mpg when enjoying yourself, compared to >40mpg trying as hard on the Beemer.
I would have an extended test ride in good weather, on roads you know, and see how you get on.
I love my Sk1RRMer and wouldn’t trade it for my Tuono, but it really depends on you and your riding as to which is best for you.
