OE Michelin Power RS disintegration / replacement?

So it turns out that Michelin Power RS tyres don't really like tracks with fast right hand exits. Was wondering whether my tyre pressures were responsible for this shocker, but spoke to the tyre specialist on site at Donington yesterday and he said it was a known fault with the Power RS that got fixed on the RS+ and GP. Basically the carcass/compound isn't strong enough on this section of tyre.

Question is though, with lots of tread still left on the front, can I get away with just replacing the rear for a Power GP? You shouldn't mix/match tyres generally but these should have the same profile and I don't think the front got updated much between RS and GP. Any thoughts?

I did the same to mine at Corum (Snetterton). Never got a replacement and still have a part worn front (in case anyone wants it).
It's interesting they now are agreeing its a design fault as I ran the minimum pressure guidance and thought it was cold tearing still (not enough movement for heating).

Using the front with a new rear won't be a big issue. But do you want to give them more money or fit a nice set of S22's/DRC2's/K3 RR's?

Well I've got S22s on my blade and they would be my default choice, but they'll change the way the RR rides (given the flatter profile) and I'll need to buy a front too so it's an extra ?120 plus fitting. If anyone's had S22s on a gen 4 I'd be interested to hear their experiences!

Same problem with Power Cup2s on my ZX..however I unknowingly ran them at the wrong pressure..

Perfect wear on PC2s on my HP4 with correct pressure...

i disliked the power rs that much i removed them after 2 rides on them. too much movement at lean for my liking. went to the m9rr's but although they were better i wanted to try something a little sportier so have recently fit the rs replacements the power 5. much better than the power rs and dont squirm around half as much. only done a couple of rides on colder roads but am liking them so far. this is road only no track so far.

I wouldn't worry about mixing tyres. I'd think more about what you've gone to. If you put a stickier rear on, you can feed the power on more and quicker once warmed up, the other way round less and slower. Same for front's.. if you've put a stickier front on, you can brake harder, later once they are warmed up.

I bring up temperature as the more racier the tyre, the smaller window of temperature they work in. Touring tyres will work in all temps, weathers. race tyres much narrower window. I've never had a problem with SuperCorsa SC's on the road as long as I think about and feel when they are up to they're working window.

To be honest any bike will only feel perfect when the suspension and tyres are up to temperature. A long ride on a hot summer's day, the bike will feel so planted as if it was stuck to the road. The racier the tyre the stronger that feeling is. Suspension temperature is also an important aspect.

mmmm interesting. luckily im not a wet weather rider though. dont think i would have opted them for track though, there the bottom of their range i think.
