Hi folks,

Just placed a deposit on a 2017 Sport, mainly going to be a track/race bike.

I'm based in North Yorkshire, usually do a few UK days each summer and will be doing a few Euro trackdays this year too. Cartagena in March, Aragon in April and Catalunya in Sept planned so far.

I'll be racing with NG this season, though it looks like I'm only off work for 3 rounds. Will be in the Open 500cc and Supermono classes on my KTM RC Cup bike, probably won't race the 1000cc this year but we'll see how I get on.

Been lurking around here for a while getting info about the S1000RR before I opened the wallet, pretty sure I've made the right move and looking forward to getting out on the new bike.

Last big sports bike was my RC8-R Track which I sold following a crash at Silverstone in June. Haven't owned an inline 4 sports bike since a ZX6-R in 2008!

Cheers.

great into mate , welcome, you must be pretty handy on a bike , there's quite a few track boys on here , do you ride on the road at all?

Hi Eddie, welcome along and enjoy the new bike, you certainly do sound very handy as DL says!
(If you want any racing tips I'd be happy to help) :scooter:

Hi Eddie, welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new bike. Great intro neighbour ;).

Haha, thanks but if I was that handy I wouldn't fall off anywhere near as much! :biggrin-new:

I haven't ridden on the road for quite a while but will be running this bike in on the road and probably keep it in road trim for this year at least. I much prefer track riding now and have done for a few years. Predictable surface, no police, no cameras, traffic etc.

Not many places you can properly thrash a bike these days.

Thanks for the welcome.

Hi and welcome. Great info., if possible may try and watch you race.

Welcome along. I do love the idea of thrashing a 390 around places like Cadwell!...not so much Silverstone ;)

No, me neither. I've never had the 390 round Silverstone but I reckon it'd be flat out for at least 90% of the lap.

I crashed the RC8-R at Copse, rider error. :culpability:

The RC Cup goes pretty well at Cadwell though, my mate timed me at 1:50 in June but I haven't any footage at all from that day. I've since had the suspension sorted to suit my weight so hopefully get a bit more support under braking/mid corner and a little more ground clearance. I was grinding the exhaust down at Park and Old Hairpin! Gets destroyed on corner exit and straight line speed by almost everything else on track due to it's awesome 38bhp and 105mph top speed.....

flurbs, you'd be more than welcome. Kettle is always on and an extra pair of hands never goes amiss :smile-new:

Just been given a delivery date of last week in Feb, can't wait! I've added the Performance Pack and HP forged wheels. Ended up buying Red/White as the Motorsports colours have later delivery estimates.

OOooff just gave that tyre too much torque...easily done. I do love the RC8-R but couldn't buy one unless it was a 3rd bike.

Yup, and to make it even worse I had a Nemesis traction control system sat on the shelf in the garage which I just didn't get round to fitting :cower:

Doesn't look like much of a crash but I was trapped under the bike as it slid and got my right arm tangled up with the front wheel. Missed Glastonbury Festival (we'd only stopped off at Silverstone as it was 'on the way') ended up in hospital for a week and Mrs Ed was furious!
