Greetings, desperately trying to lighten 2012 RR without going to the gym or surgery (and on a budget) so trawling the interweb for ideas, suggestions and cheap wheels ;-)

First tell us what you did up until now so we can make some suggestions.

I can tell you you are dreaming on a "budget".

Hello mate, why not do a proper intro in the Newbie bit? Why are you 'desperate' to lighten it? If its for track then fit race bodywork, lighter wheels and exhaust, for the road it's not so important v getting the suspension properly set up, fitting the right tyres and maybe dropping the gearing - all of which will cost you next to nothing. If you want to change stuff for the road then wheels and exhaust would be the main gains I would think but neither are cheap even secondhand unless you fall lucky

May I add a lithium Ion battery? From up to a point it is relatively cheap but from there on it is more expensive than to modify your engine...
But you should tell us where you want to use the bike and what you made so far.

Hi Folks and thanks for the comments, I'm hardly riding the RR on the road at all now, just track days here and Spain. Mods so far are full Akra exhaust de-cat SS not Ti (I know, I should have saved for the titanium) Lithium battery is coming and I have some track fairing ready to fit so I can lose the lights and tidy up the whole seat unit. HP Rearsets and CNC levers but want a pair of the Gilles to match.....
I would really appreciate if anyone can tell me about the resistor or plug that I need once I disconnect the lights/indicators to keep the loom and dashboard happy?
Shopping for some lighter wheels but "used" seem to hold their value really well and get snapped up quickly and I don't want to go the whole hog with BST's......I might end up with new OZ on the 0% deal to spread the cost a bit.
Thanks again, I was torn between spending the extra and trading up to a 2015 Gen 3 or just tweaking and improving the bike I love and nothing wrong with it at all, it's certainly beyond my abilities and knackered knees in the Intermediate group!!

Alpha racing do a kit for the plug question: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/alpha-Racing-5-Plug-Race-Kit-BMW-S1000RR-HP4-2010-2014-/182130152190

Geoff from Prime Factors (one of our forum vendors) supplies Alpha parts, he also does oz wheels I think amongst many parts. He should look after you as a forum member. Worth a chat with him at least.
