Hi Mac, would you mind giving me some advice? I'd really like to purchase an aftermarket exhaust, either a full system or a slip on. Is there one out there you could recommend? I can get a full Akro for under ?1200? Which doesn't seem to expensive? I also like the SC PROJECT Conic?Nice bike Steve, don't know if your bike has any extras but recommend fitting rad and oil cooler guards - various ones available but Evotech make good ones, HP (or similar) rear sets allow for some adjustment and are much grippier than the std slippy pegs, finally a priority to swap the ugly std can, akra probably the best all round choice but AR and arrow also popular alternatives

Hi Oli, thank you very much for your detailed reply, I very much appreciate your help.Do you ride on UK tracks, or have any intentions to ride on UK track days?
If so, I would take caution with a full system as you will have to be very mindful of noise limits on some tracks.
Additionally, when fitting a full system you should also factor in the cost of a fuel management module and Dyno time. At the very least, you should check the fuelling on a Dyno after installing the exhaust.
I have the Gen 3 Akrapovic Evolution full system, with a custom mapped PCV. I really like it and for me it transformed the bike. However, this newer style system is considerably louder than the older silencer style, and therefore even with the official Akrapovic baffle it is uncomfortably close to some fly-by noise limits. With that in mind, I would recommend the previous generation system. If you want a PCV, I would recommend also fitting the Secondary Fuel Module, so that you can add fuel in the lower portion of the Rev range (mine only gained at the top end without this additional module). Alternatively, you could contact Alex on the forum for a special discounted price on a Rapid Bike Racing Module (Jay is also well informed on these modules and helped setup the base map for the 17 model bikes).
Final thing to note, is that if you go with a full system be aware that the popping and banging on closed throttle is amplified considerably. If this is likely to irritate, you would also need to purchase Alpha Racing SAS block of plates.
I think slip-ons are great because you can have a sexy looking silencer that lets a bit more sound out for the road, and then in a very short amount of time you can switch to your OEM silencer for track days with no practical concerns of noise limits.
As MacRR pointed out in previous threads, note that to be fully UK and EU compliant, the silencer must have an EU stamp on it. However, in the UK you can still pass an MOT without such markings.
Whatever exhaust you decide on, be it a slip-on or full system, I hope you enjoy it buddy

Hi Oli, thank you very much for your detailed reply, I very much appreciate your help.
I've actually never ridden on the track, although probably should.
I'm enjoying my S1 more than I ever imagined I could or would, it is, simply put, sensational, I love it. I've been lucky to have been riding bikes since I was 16, I'm 56 now and enjoying riding more than ever and that's because of this bike. I could go on and on and on......
I've had a fair amount of excellent advice from Jay and now from you! Thanks.
I will consider my exhaust options. In all my years I've not really changed my bikes, I did have the tri-oval Yoshi on my K5 GSXR, it was bloody noisy, it somewhat put me off.
Thank you again for your help.
