Hi There. David here from far down south.....at the bottom of africa. Picked up a damaged 2014 S1000RR as a project to build with my son and daughter over the schol holidays. Currently have MV Agusta F3 675, F4RR...this will be my 3rd S1000RR....if we ever get it going again. I chose the S1000RR as a project due to having a shedload of spares from the previous 2 I had, as they were converted to track bikes.

Welcome mate.. your a long way away but just as welcome on here !.

I bought and sold an F3 RC800 last year, stunning bike, but too track focused for road purposes and too pretty for the track... the ultimate nightmare !

Shoot away with any questions, plenty of people on here to help..

Thanks for the welcome. I know what you mean about the F3, that's why the F4. One for track and one for road/living room.

The F3 only comes alive at high rev's and you can't do that legally on the road.

Yea the triple is an acquired taste, I wasn't quite ready to try and get into it to be honest... probably too used to 190 plus brake and the flexibility of larger capacity bikes.. plus I nearly wiped it out with a mad tank slapper under hard acceleration...no damper as standard ..crazy !

How's the roads and the like down your way ?..

Welcome to the forum!

What have been your favourite experiences onboard the F4?

Best of luck with the RR rebuild, would make for a great thread documenting the progress [emoji41]

Enjoy the forum, there?s a wonderful community on here and loads of information

The damper got added as standard on the newer F3's but I installed a gubellini damper after I also nearly came up short. The roads here are great.....in certain places and utterly terrible in other's, with potholes and badly repaired surfaces being the major issue. For track i prefer Redstar raceway, with a lot of turns and few straight's.

Had a ride on a friends F3, jeeze.... very harsh and focussed.

True, terrible road bike, but excellent track machine

Thanks for the welcome. If I'm being honest, power delivery was all over the place until I replaced the ECU with a Microtec ecu and after that it's a monster to ride. I live near the Magiliesburg and as a sunday route it's awesome.

I'll most definitely do s thread with the rebuild. I'm waiting on the suspension to be delivered. It's cheaper to import parts than buy local as the S1000RR is so popular over here. I decided on a black set of FGRT 200 ohlins for the front and the older TTX 358 for the back.I'm keeping the damper stock as I feel the stock Sachs is good enough.
