My name is Paul, i am a mechanic for a race team (which i'm afraid i will keep on QT) that have just switched from the zx10r to the new BMW.
i'm afraid i will be blunt as it will be easier, i'm looking for as much info and advice as humanly possible on the 2D BMW datalogging system.
looking over the internet it is like it doesn't even exist. We used to use the AIM system and there was more info than you could shake a stick at.
I did a google search for the best S1000RR forum and this is where all the pointers led.
We have tested the bike once and the outcomes are very promising but before we head off again I seriously need to be at one with the menu and analysis of the 2D to be quick and efficient between sessions.
Please don't think i'm rude for being so forward but i just like to let people know my intentions (admin please advise if this is against any policy)
i am happy to share some of my bike knowledge if it is required (however limited that may be).
I would like to thank you for your assistance in advance, and if there is a place to look for the info i need please point me towards there.

Are we talking the small square 2D logger or the longer HP Logger (by 2D). Just to be 100% clear.
Firstly have you managed to get the software update the latest?
What do you need to know?

thanks stuart, i was hoping so, i have syncronised them together and opened up some laps.
Put in a new start finish datum point, but the AIM is so user friendly and this is just more complex or possibly just different to my limited pc knowledge.

i have done a forum search for info but it is pretty random,
is there anywhere specific i should look?
could a new field for datalogging be introduced? then collate posts to there?
im happy to spread the love with my findings, but obviously not my actual graphs (at least not the ones that count)

From what I can gather you need datalogs to practice with, chopping them up and seeing what you can get from them. Which is a PITA. There should be a demo one with the software.
RyS1000RR has had his longer and should be able to give some more hints.
I find it very cludgy to use too.

ive dropped a few points on to the logging part you have opened, i think i will be visiting that a fair bit.
i will also share what i learn for the other guys, im not sure what racers drop onto here but im sure they my be pulling hair out over the system

Cheers - to be honest I don't think anyone has benefited the community with much info. It's either jealously guarded or they are too busy to help.

We'll do what we can as a forum, but we may have to break new ground. I do not have DDC or the 2D Pot sensors so can't advise around them.

well i will learn what i can and relay it back in limited feedback to simplify as much as possible.
i can use screen shots to assist, i have printed all of the manuals from the disc and they are pretty much useless and a waste of paper

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum. I know this doesn't answer your questions but why not stick with the Aim Solo DL units?

we were on the aim evo4 unit, a few reasons really, it looked on paper the better option as its all loomed in.
shoe horning the system under the body of the zx10 was hard work.
once the menus are deciphered im sure it will make sense. hopefully.
its not my decision to make alone and like i say, it seemed to make sense.
and like anything else - COST!
The AIM is 3k the bmw intarface 1K - no brainer, until muggins has to read it.
