hi, my S1000rr came with a full Akrapovic race system with the short stubby muffler (product code S-B10E1-ASZ) its quite loud and sounds absolutely gorgeous so don't wanna change it come MOT time. (loud pipes saves lives and all that:smile-new:) It also came with two certificates stating that it is street legal. Will this still pass an MOT ?

Depends how friendly your Mot man is!
I believe it's at his discretion, besides he can only make his opinion at the time of the test-buy him some earmuffs!
It's probably best to get an opinion before the actual test-at least you can knock up a baffle(or a cork!) first.

Find yourself a friendly dealer and do as Baz suggested and ask before the test, probably best to ride to the place and chat face to face.

I just MOT'd mine with a full (long can) Akro, with Db killer in that is about 98db at Cadwell, passed with an advisory of a noisy exhaust.

I said, no its not, its road legal, and his reply was, anything that isn't factory standard gets that advisory.

Either way, passed MOT and a road legal exhaust means dibbles happy and no issues with the insurance.

Insurance would absolutely not pay out if you didnt inform them of the change ( Akra) , and they knew about it

I asked a Motorrad dealer if a full system would invalidate the BMW warranty, they couldn't say for certain it wouldn't .

anyone got a link to the correct DB killer for this can? I've had a look and all the ones I've found need to be drilled for an external bolt through the protruding tail piece and my can has no sticky outy bit, so need some sort of internal clampy thing :/

two questions mr fenick

does the exhaust say on it NOT FOR ROAD USE or TRACK USE ONLY or simalar

is the exhausts noisy on TICK OVER

no markings on the exhaust except the akrapovic labels and akrapovic part umbers etched on the undersde.

its got a loudish burble on tick over but nothing offensive and does get quite noisy above 50mph so just about to order one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pipe-Werx-...item2583d89a3a

shouldnt bother bud if its not load at tick over and has not got the not for road use on it they cant fail it bud:D
