Hi, I'm 'thinking' (dangerous thing that) of purchasing an Akrapovic, any views or opinions would be appreciated. I never bling or spend that kind of money on my bikes.

The best, in my biased opinion.

Full Ti system at 2k is IMO, having been there, overkill and the stainless 1k jobber does the same job.

Get the baffle if you don't intend to remap as it will run smoother with it in.

+1, get a slip on if its to improve looks, I struggle with why anyone would need a few more bhp for the expense of a full system outside of racing.

It's apparently around ?1,149 including shipping, it's definitely partly looks but it's more to do with simply wanting an Akrapovic! I'd like the power smoothing out, any suggestions?

This all depends on what you want to achieve and what your intended use of the bike is (road, or road and track).

I have the Ti version of that exhaust and I think it's great but is an awful lot of money, especially when you consider the other associated costs (PCV, remap and installation etc).
It's also rather loud, which can cause problems with certain track days.

If you're set on a full system, I agree with Alex that the SS "Racing" system makes more sense.

If it's purely aesthetics and a louder exhaust note you're after, then I agree with bananman and MacRR re a slip on.
You could have a loud short slip on and the OEM can for when you want/ need something quieter, for example.

Whatever you decide, enjoy :).

Thanks for the advice. I'm too old for noise, I had the Yoshi race pipe (came free with K6) and it was awful, I much prefer standard. I wasn't aware the Akrapovic would be that loud? Are you saying it's not just a case of simply fitting it?

The weight is a nice factor. Especially if you've one of the bikes that feel like it wants to turn right all the time.

If you like the sound of the OEM system then I would not recommend that particular Akra full system.
I would strongly suggest a slip on as any de cat full system will increase noise considerably over OEM.
If you want the best possible power delivery and throttle response you'll need to fit a fuel controller and get a custom map. This is all considerable cost and effort for primarily an aesthetic change, in my opinion.

If you are adamant on an Akrapovic full system, personally, I would recommend the older style exhaust (for the previous gen bikes) as this is quieter, though arguably less attractive.

For what it's worth, in future I will be thinking long and hard before buying a full system again.

P.S. Alex makes a good point re weight saving, this is very noticeable and is a significant benefit to a full system.

Akrapovič

It's never just a simple case of bolting a full exhaust system on anymore and 99% of the time the bike will need to be remapped. The Akrapovič systems that featured the tapered exhaust, as pictured, are also louder than previous versions. The only real benefit of the full titanium version, as opposed to the cheaper stainless steel system, is the weight saving which is ideal for race and track use. Performance wise you are only going to see a very modest gain as the OEM exhaust system is extremely good. You may also want to have a look at their slip-on range which are, when compared to their full systems, more affordable, quieter and simple to fit. Either way you can't really go wrong with any product from Akrapovič as the build quality and finish is exceptional.

Hi thanks for the advice. What you've said makes sense. I really do like the OEM pipe, I not owned an Akrapovic, I thought the price was reasonable and it certainly looks great, that said I'll stick with standard.

Akrapovič

I have a HP Race Power Kit (Akrapovič Full Titanium Exhaust System) fitted to my track bike and the weight saving over the standard OEM exhaust system was 5.9 Kg when I weighed them both. Just by replacing the slip-on alone you will save nearly 2.0 Kgs of weight depending on what model year you have. The weight savings for all of the Akrapovič range are listed on their website.
