Thought this might interest some of you , one of my suppliers is buying a sand printing machine , it basically cuts out the need for pattern equipment and like most 3d printing is changing the face of manufacturing quite dramatically
You have probably heard the hype about the plastic guns and shit in the news , but to be honest the slim and plastic printers are the tip of the iceberg
Below is a pick of a very intricate block of tool steel , the piece is about 4 inches square , the detail is amazing!,,
There is also. A sample of what the sand printer can do , as far as casting technology goes, things are getting very exciting....
This very fancy machine is a real game changer and I didn't realise how much laser sintering had advanced
I suppose there will come a time when you can just print off bits for your bike :)

like you say quite intricate, could come in handy for the classic market too, re-making those impossible to find parts for the Vincent rebuild
 
Amazing. Science fiction stuff not so long ago. Technology is going to take a massive leap in the next few years we are entering a new era for sure
