This morning when I left for work I got the

Fault in the engine control onward journey possible ride carefully to next specialist workshop

now I had the same message a good few weeks back after the bike had been serviced by BMW and it died, I switched it off and back on and it was fine thereafter, now I can?t remember if it was the same message then but this is definitely the message that I got this time round.

The bike never died this time, but it didn?t go away when I switched it off and back on a few times, but it finally went away when I switched it off and back on for the third time I think, I?ve had a quick look online and there seems to be an issue at times where people were getting a fault code for the fuel pump when plugging in their GS911 which I don?t have, but another few had this message after the bike being serviced, the bike is under warranty anyway so I?ll just contact them but this will be another thing I don?t trust them with, I should have mentioned the fault code the last time to them when I was dealing with the brake fluid leaking issue as the message came up after that service, it was literally a few days after.

Anyone else had it? When I have some spare cash I?ll have to get a GS911 so I can easily find faults in the future and deal with them myself when the bike isn?t covered under warranty.

I had something similar with my bike and it was due to the battery voltage dropping too fast. I had the bike on trickle charge ?.so I thought it would have been fine and was reading 12 + volts when I turned on the dash.

I went and bought a GS911 tool and it was coming up with all kinds of crazy fault code. Air flapper under voltage, fuel pump etc. no mention of anything to do with the battery.

This was just after I mapped the bike, so I called RS2E in a mad panic .

They advised to turn on the dash without the engine started. If the battery voltage drops a few decimal point in a minute you need to change it . I bought a new battery and it?s all fine.

I?ll have a look at that, I?ve never had any issues with the battery and it?s been on trickle charge when not used, but I?ve been using the bike a lot recently for work so in theory the battery should be well charged.

I?ll check that see if the voltage drops, in theory it will drop because the fuel pump is priming but it?s what is an acceptable amount.
 
I?ve just tested the battery voltage output before and after ignition on. It was 12.75 ish before turning the ignition on then when on it dropped to roughly 12.1/2 ish and stabilised. This is perfectly normal and I?d say within range as the fuel pump primes etc.

I?ll get through to Stu?s at some point and get the GS911 on it to see what it says exactly but I?ll phone BMW at some point this week.
