Refitted mine with a full Akky Evo a couple of days ago and I'm very pleased with the result. The extra bracket is a piece of piss to fit and for the sum total of £90 it finishes the bike off nicely and fills the crappy gap the cat leaves behind. Much better than hundreds spent on aftermarket bellypans.

Budget - but does the job.

Hi. The German site doesn't say why/when you need the additional bracket. I have a standard cat with an Akro shorty - do I need to buy the bracket too?

No. The bracket is required when you remove the cat as the left side of the cat cover is secured to a bolt hole in the cat. No cat, not mounting bolt hole so the adaptor is fixed to a threaded hole on the back of the engine block that provides the same mounting point as the cat cover does on the left.

It would melt as it sits a few mm off the cat so it has to be mental ;)
How come Austin make a very long bellypan than that almost touches the back wheel? Why don't they melt?

Dave is correct
Besides I don't reckon being close to the wheel will bring on any melting

Still don't think this bit of metal is better than the gap though

Because I suspect that pan is used with the ARCS system which, to fit, you cut off the cat and replace with a stubby link pipe.
nope, longer bellypan also fits stock systems.

Think we have to be careful here, i bought a full bellypan (2010)made with the cut away underneath because of the extreme heat of the cat.......
