I ventured out for a few hours this afternoon on the big fat bike, I think I get (more) depressed when I don't get bike time, and it's been 3 weeks since my last ride (which was ****, v cold and heavy rain/sleet for 2 hours each way to and from the office). Dash said it was 2.5c today. Met a guy at Helmsley who had fallen off down the road on black ice, and a couple of other GS riders who had fallen off a number of times today, apparently... I didn't have any issues with grip or the conditions other than my thumbs and toes started to get very cold after a while.

Anyone else been venturing out?

My car was covered in a thick frost this morning, t'internet said it was 0 degrees outside, and the council around here don't bother gritting my estate roads. Suffice to say, i didn't get my bike out today, although i did spend an hour in the garage inserting the slick plug and trying to re-fit the seat. That was cold enough for me today. Is it just me, or is refitting the seat a right niggly bitch.

Impressed Soof, not been out on the bikes for a few weeks, icy all day here, heading up to Sportsbikeshop next weekend, will be taking the GS up if its not too crappy

Same as above. Ice on the bike tent so i spent the time constructivly today and cleared the trackbike shed out . Put some stuff up for sale that i will never use again now its a ft track bike

That's what I like to hear, cold and frosty and decides to wire up the slick plug lol !! (yes, the seat can be quite niggly when yr trying not to scratch the paintwork)

I'm to scared to ride in the cold now, found out how quick black ice can wreck your day.

Apparently it's going to be above freezing temperatures this Friday night and Saturday day, so I'm going to get new tyres on the 7th.

Brave man... weather was freezing up here last night and its blowing a hoolie right now cos its woken me up... 4.30am..

Last out on Boxing Day. That was sunny and relatively mild.
Just can't be bothered if it's close to freezing - I only ride for fun these days.

Same as you Andy - I ride for fun. Heated grips do help but after a couple of hours in the cold, my hips and knees start to seize up.

A few years ago when my grandmother was still alive, my mum said to her "he's out on his motorbike...". She said (she was incredibly generous tho she didn't have much) "oh, can't he afford a car - does he need some money?". She didn't get that people rode them for fun - I guess when she was growing up they required a lot more maintenance than a modern bike does (obviously removing Ducati's from that statement)!

Been riding throughout Xmas and New Year.... only 25/26/27 Dec and 1/2 Jan did not ride.... oh, and the 23rd as was the company Xmas do so left the bike at home as was on the lash.....

I did spend 30 mins in wiring up the Gerbing gloves...... hmmm nice and toasty now......takes the nip off, but then found my feet cold....pfffff !!

I did have panic attack this morning though... was up cleaning my teeth at 5:30am and hear my bike alarm going off....

Dropped everything and legged it into the garage in just my boxers (it was not a pretty sight ;-)

Even though the trickle charge was on, something triggered the alarm on the bike..... it was all locked so no animals / people present..... any ideas what may have caused it to go off....? It is the factory fitted one on a '16 plate.

Its an avg 2degC warmer in G.London than outside...so we don't get frozen roads fortunately...but I still can't be bothered with the diesel etc...

First day back to work today
And it was bloody cold, left my house at 7:30 and it was around 0 degrees with a half an hour commute
Took it nice and easy, god I hate the winter

I always see a few bikes riding in dark icy conditions during my drive to work , much respect to them and to you - take it easy!

After reading Soofs ride out yesterday I decided to take my GSA out and look for some snow to play in. It was 11 degrees when I left my house at 12.30 and by 2.15 I was axle deep in the white stuff up at Glenshee, had a wee play in the snow, ice and mud before returning home in the dark, lowest temp I saw was 2 degrees, so quite mild.
Main reason I went was to practice riding in these conditions with the bike fully loaded with panniers, bags etc and test out my new SatNav and some electrical charging gear I fitted for my trip to the Arctic later this year.
I was knackered when I got back and have spent 2 hours sleeping in front of the TV with all my bike gear still on with a full cup of coffee in front of me. Worth it though.

Bike to be washed in the morning.

We had -6 this morning, bloody hard frost i couldnt even get the car door open. When i got off motorway i was going along an a road and i saw a "bike" pulled over on side of road (still dark). I stopped to see whats wrong, it ended up being a moped. I had stopped so asked if he was ok anyway. He said he had to pull over as he couldnt feel the bars anymore [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12]
