The Gilles nut takes a different sized socket from the oe one. I think from memory it's 32. Just worth knowing in case you don't have an extensive large socket set. Pro bolt also do ti rear axle nuts and we get a discount. The Gilles nut is a nice piece of work and has a grub screw which makes me feel better (no pun intended). The weight saving is probably the difference between porridge or a bacon sandwich for breakfast, any excuse ;).

Edit - changed Gilles nut size.

Re: Chain Pitch

520 pitch chain and sprockets are generally used on race/track bikes as they offer a marginal reduction in unsprung weight but to the detriment of longevity. That and there is a wider range of 520 pitch sprocket sizes which are more readily available for use with aftermarket lightweight wheels.

Thanks for the advice. I was told to go for a 428 on the 675 but didn't like the sound of it lasting very long...

Do you have any idea of expected mileage on the bike if maintained well for OEM sprockets and chain though ?

With how quick everyone has changed from OEM it sounds like Ill need to have a chain guard

I think the reason most people change (myself included) is because the OEM chain stretches a lot to begin with and needs constant adjustment and the fact that the slightest bit of moisture and it suffers badly with surface corrosion.

OEM Chain

The OEM chain isn't very good at all even when regularly maintained. That said it's no worse than a cheap aftermarket chain but you are far better off replacing it with a quality item from the likes of D.I.D etc.

hi balallan I got a JT chain and sprockets off Stephen from the forum , you can contact him though the premium members vendor deals (graham's motorcycles ) he got me a great price, pics are in my showroom thread, the chain is spot on just as good as any other brand and miles better than the standard rusty ***** BMW supply.
